Mrs. Gloria D. Carr, 81, of Monroe, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. today, May 28, at First United Methodist Church of Monroe, with Rev. JoAnn Cooper officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. "Jack" Carr; and her parents, H.R. and Marie Dickerson.
Survivors include her children, Gary Carr, Ronald Carr and wife, Cheryl, and her devoted daughter and caregiver, Linda Carr; grandchildren, Christopher Carr, Heather Moss and husband, Jeremiah, and Brittany Carr; great-grandchild, Isaiah Moss; her beloved sister, Kitty Colbert and husband, Don; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Powers and husband, Robert; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Danny Allen, Jim Boudreau, Laymon Godwin, Dan Colbert, Robert Powell and Chris Carr. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Anna Gray Noe Sunday School Class.

Almeda Wimp Crowe
Mrs. Almeda Wimp Crowe, 91, of Alexandria, died Friday, May 29, 2009.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M.W. Crowe; two sisters, Bonitta Paynar and Floella Nation; and son, Harry Crowe.
Survivors include her sons, Richard J. "Dickie" Crowe and wife, Ann, and Tommy Crowe and wife, Diane; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Crowe; five grandsons, Richard Crowe, Timothy Crowe, Todd Crowe, Trey Crowe and Cory Crowe; three great-grandsons, Tyler Crowe, Wesley Crowe and Bailey Crowe; one great-granddaughter, Sydney LeAnn Crowe; niece, Damacus McNeely Woods; and three nephews, Kenny McNeely, Kyle Crowe, and Bobby Nation.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren and Cecil Kaufman. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren.

Jessie Lee Gates
Mrs. Jessie Lee Gates, 90, went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 29, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Everett Geis Sr. and Rev. Rick McPherson officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Gates; parents, Tom and Leona Bishop; nine brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Walter and wife, Verda, Ed and wife,Velda, William "Bill" and Robert and wife, Candy; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley Gates, Trudy Bishop and Ruth Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Mike, John, Stacy, Chris, Randy and Scott.

Fred Key Golson Jr. 78, died Friday, May 29, 2009.
A memorial service in celebration of his life was at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 1, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Private family burial was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Fred K. Golson Sr. and Ernestine Whittle Golson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Agnes Jones Golson; five sons and their wives, Dave and Ginga, Russell and Kelly, Larry and Brigitte, all of Houston, Texas, Clint and Julie of Shreveport, and Jeff and Kristy of Monroe; and grandchildren, Kyle, Jamie, Ben, Parker, Lukas, Erik, Katy, Tucker, Karly, Madeline, Maxwell and Eleanor; and twin sister, Elizabeth Ann Holt and husband, Robert, of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Graveside services for Creola Oglesby (Ricki) Green, 88, of Monroe, were at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Carlos Brown officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Jack Green Sr.; parents, James Iley and Mary Ourelia Oglesby; daughter-in-law, Gloria Stovall Green; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Jack Jr. and Greg and wife, Sharon; grandsons, Matt and wife, Maria, and Josh and fiancée, Annsley; granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh; great-grandsons, Kevin, Jacob and Connor James Green; many nephews and nieces; and with a special thanks to her surviving sister, Kitty Oglesby Murray, in her devotion to her sister.

Mr. Billy "Brother" Kennedy, 48, passed away in Monroe on Friday, May 22, 2009.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Stan Taylor officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy J. Kennedy, and brother, Jackie Ray Kennedy.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara R. Kennedy; sister, Brenda Coates; nephew, Jeremy Coates and wife, Angel; great niece, Faith Coates; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mr. William W. (Bill) Mann, 99, of West Monroe, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at The Terrace in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Peniel Baptist Church in West Monroe, with Rev. Charles Davis and Rev. Bryan Rankin officiating. Interment was in Fellowship Baptist Cemetery near Columbia, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Audie Mann and two sons, Harvey Mann and Willie Vern Mann.

He was preceded in death by his father, M.L. Meredith II; mother: Linnie B. Meredith; and brothers, Ben, Allen and Lynn Meredith.
Survivors include wife of 55 years, Ethel M. Meredith; daughter, Cindy Smith and husband, Bobby; sons: Marquis L. Meredith IV and Leslie Bates, John M. Meredith and Timothy D. Horace Boyd Shelton

Mr. Shelton passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at St. Francis North Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Brown & Root Pipeline Construction.

Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Calvary Baptist Church of Monroe with Rev. Bobby McGee officiating. Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Atlanta, La., under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Lee Stroud; and husband of 62 years, Archie (Jack) Stroud.
Survivors include son, Jack Stroud and wife, Kim, of Calhoun; grandson, Adam Stroud of Calhoun; two granddaughters, Hallie Patton and husband, Richie Patton, of Quitman, and Heather Stroud of Calhoun; great-grandson, Jake Patton of Quitman; two great granddaughters, Anna Kay Patton of Quitman, and Ella Ann Stroud of Calhoun; and numerous nieces and nephews.
