Low bidder out on airport project; City moves to accept Lincoln Builder bid

Monroe City Council will hold a special meeting Friday, June 12, to take final action on the selection of a contractor for the construction of a new $35 million terminal at Monroe Regional Airport.

The city council on Wednesday held a special meeting to introduce an ordinance accepting the low bid of Lincoln Builders of Ruston.

Late last month bids were opened for the new terminal project.

The lowest bidder was Envirotech Services of New Orleans with a bid of $34,178,552.

However, city attorney Nancy Summersgill said Envirotech Services' bid was rejected since it did not meet the requirements of the state bid law.

Lincoln Builders submitted the next lowest bid at $34, 498,000.

The city expects to break ground on the new terminal project sometime this summer.

City officials hope to have the airport terminal completed during 2011.
