Memorial services for Mr. Earl Rolland Banks, 83, of Monroe, were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Larry Stafford officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lillian; daughter, Paula Banks and Ken Smolsky of Destin, Fla.; son, Sedric and wife, Wanda McConkey Banks, of Monroe; grandchildren, S. Hutton Banks and Harrison O. Banks; step-grandchild, J. Kyle McConkey and wife, Lindsey; two brothers, Elmer M. Banks and wife, Frances Naff Banks of Drury, Mo., Charles Hebert Banks and Charlotte Ober Banks of Farmerville; two sisters, Bethel Banks Williams and husband, Billy Don Williams, of West Monroe and Perlene Banks Hice of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Dorothy P. Brownlee
Dorothy P. Brownlee was born June 26, 1926, and died on May 10, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Brownlee; and son, William T. Brownlee.
Survivors include her loving and very caring daughter, Margaret Dent; son-in-law, Bruce A. Dent; grandsons, Joshua and Jason (Lippie) Dent, all of Monroe.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Stephen Michael Finnegan
Mr. Stephen Michael Finnegan, 56, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Mac Owens officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Finnegan and wife, Brittney, and Sy Nathaniel Finnegan; daughter, Rose Finnegan; grandchildren, Arianna Rose Finnegan, Mya Diane Finnegan, Jonathan Keith Hernandez and Anthony Michael Finnegan; and wife, Cherri Walker.
Thelma C. Hemphill
Mrs. Thelma C. Hemphill, 83, of West Monroe, passed away May 12, 2009, in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, with Brother Gleason Copeland officiating. Arrangements were by Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Hemphill, and her son, Johnny Newman. Survivors include her sister, Kyrous Brown and husband Ray; former daughter-in-law, Lovie Newman Hammett; grandson, Mark Newman; two great-grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Hazel Lee Williams Cummings Hollister
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Lee Williams Cummings Hollister, 80 of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Woods Watson officiating. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.T. Cummings and Dr. Albert Hollister and by her son, Ronnie Cummings.
Survivors include her son, Donnie Cummings and wife, Judy; daughter, Pam Frith and husband, Kenneth; grandchildren, John David Frith, Samantha Crawford, Toby Frith and Niki Hagan; and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, James Williams and John Williams; sister, Helen Robinson; sisters in-law, Penny McGrew and Marlene Greer; and brother in-law, Dewayne Cummings.
Pallbearers were Gerald Cummings, Corky Williamson, Lane Williamson, John David Frith, Toby Frith and Roy McGrew.
Burnam Edward Howard
Mr. Burnam Howard, 83, of West Monroe, passed away May 11, 2009, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Minister Ray Paseur officiating. Interment was at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Louise Bozarth Howard; children, Preston Payne and wife, Dianne, and Cynthia Diane Young and husband, Mark; brothers, James Howard and Kenneth Howard; sister, Mary Jane Sylve; a number of nieces and nephews; four grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
Pallbearers were Harold Traylor, Troy Harper, Harry Maroney, Gene Chapman, Malcolm Hartman and Huey Russell.
Emanuel C. Howard
Emanuel C. Howard, 71, of Sterlington, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009, in Bastrop.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Howard; sons, Rickey, Ralph and Ronnie Howard; stepdaughters, Brenda Murphy, Ann Burch and Ana Bellamy; stepson, Jesse Phillips; sister, Jessie Liles; brother, Charles Howard; two grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
Jesse M. LaPietra Sr.
Mr. Jesse M. "Bucky" LaPietra Sr., passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. Francis Specialty Hospital after a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at noon Tuesday, May 12, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Msgr. Edmund Moore officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Jewel LaPietra; and a daughter, Belinda LaPietra Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lucille Tornatore LaPietra; daughters, Cathy LaPietra Gates and husband, Wiley, Toni LaPietra Green and husband, Sidney; son, Dr. Jesse M. LaPietra Jr. and wife, Robin; grandchildren, Charity Gill, Tiffany Green Terra, Heather Miller, Zachary LaPietra, Payton LaPietra and Reagan LaPietra; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Hammond and Brayden Terra; and a very special sister-in-law, Rosemary Crowson.
Pallbearers were Larry Hall, Jerry Ford, James Scalia, Bill Heard Jr., Michael Swallow and Christopher DeMers. Honorary pallbearers were the Northeast Louisiana Retired National Guard Association, Sam Tornatore, H.J. DeMers and Brentley Ross.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Ann Marzula; sister, Constance Nell Buccola; and brother, Joe Marzula.
Survivors include his children, Sammy Marzula Jr. and wife, Janice, Debbie Marzula, Jody Pollard and husband, Tom, Jeff Marzula and wife, Dana, Rhonda McMorris and husband, Mike, and Wanda Arant; grandchildren, Candice Sparks, Shane Russell, Paul Pollard, Jessica Pollard, Jeffery Marzula, Joey Marzula, Jeremy McMorris, Anna Marzula and Lane Arant; great-grandchildren, Ryan Peterson, Ella McMorris and Ava McMorris; sisters, Rose Mary Fowlkes and Teressa Massey; brothers, Vince Marzula and Johnny Marzula; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lena Helen Moore, 87, of Tyler, Texas, and formerly of Richland Parish, died May 8, 2009, in Tyler.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Randy Bardwell officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lovell C. Moore Sr.; daughters, Helen Gladys Barrett, Mary Alice Lowry, and Anna Margaret Gill; grandson, Joseph Lloyd Gill; sisters, Zula Spruell, Flora Hunter and Zelma Warner; and brothers, Lindsey Wells and Talmadge Wells.
Survivors include sons, Max Lowry of Calhoun, and Lovell C. Moore Jr. of Irving, Texas; daughters, Gayle Johns of West Monroe, Merilyn McGlothlin of Irving, Texas, Tracy Moore of Grapevine, Texas, and Myra Hargrove of Irving, Texas; brother, Albert Wells of Calhoun; sisters, Wilma Cassell of Taylorsville, Miss., and Anna Laura Webb of Jacksonville, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Gill, John Gill, Lee Lowry, Sean McGlothlin, Clifton Cassell and Jason VanOrman.

Jacob N. Perot
Funeral services for Mr. Jacob N. "Jake" Perot, 80, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Roy Ervin Southern officiating. Interment was at Chase Cemetery in Chase.
Mr. Perot died April 30, at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Hill Perot; parents, Osbon Perot and Mary Bonner Welch; and brothers, Donald Lee Perot, Eddie Joe Perot, Billy Mac Perot and Harlan M. Bonner.
Survivors include his sons, Richard Perot and wife, Jill, Steve Perot and wife, Renee, and Jeff Perot and wife, Shannon; daughter, Sara Hendricks and husband, Jeff; grandsons, Chad Perot, Andrew Moore, Matthew Moore, Ethan Perot, Judson Porter, Seth Perot, Clayton Porter and Wayne Hendricks; granddaughters, Anna Redding, Amy Hendricks, Candyce, Casey and Mackenzie Perot; brothers, Bruce Bonner, Gene Perot and Vern Tolbird; and sisters, Mary Frances Hernandez and Juanita Ramage.
Pallbearers were Barry Bonner, Rocky Bonner, Chad Perot, Ethan Perot, Seth Perot and Wayne Hendricks.

Mrs. Mary Ann Roberson, 79, of West Monroe, passed away on April 29, 2009.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 8, at First Baptist Church of West Monroe, with Rev. Mark Fenn and Senior Pastor Woods Watson officiating. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, E.L. "Rob" Roberson; son, Dewey Lamar "Tommy" Thompson and wife, Merry; niece, Susan Beck and husband, Cliff; step children, Robert L. Roberson and wife, Patsy, Kathy R. Hale and husband, Steve, Susie Roberson and special friend, Sharon Jackson, Mary E. Dawson and husband, Rick; brothers, James M. Pinkston Jr., John A. Pinkston and Robert C. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Williams; grandson, Aidan Williams; parents, Delbert and Annie Bell Williams; sisters, Elizabeth Cochran and Vicky Young; and stepmother, Ruby Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Bobbie Williams; son, Corey Williams and wife, Valery, of Monroe; daughters, Kay Taylor of West Monroe, and Wendy Hays and husband, Scott, of El Dorado, Ark.; grandsons, Dylan Hays of Conway, Ark., and Will Taylor of West Monroe; granddaughters, Devin Hays of El Dorado, Ark., Elise Williams of Houston, Texas, Rachel Williams of Houston, Texas, and Reagan Taylor of West Monroe; great-granddaughter, Avery Hays of El Dorado, Ark.; sisters, Eloise Leach of Marietta, Ga., Lorene Spangler of Odessa, Texas, June Williams of Austin, Texas, and Sheila Overcast of Lovington, N.M.; and brothers, Craig Thompson of Jeffersonville, Ga., and Ricky Williams of New Mexico.
