"The Ghosts of Louisiana" as portrayed by Secretary of State Jay Dardenne was the topic for the English-Speaking Union on Thursday, April 30.

The speaker chose past governors from Huey Long and influential political leaders up to Sen. Dudley Leblanc, telling of the unique features of each and the foot prints left by each in the history of Louisiana. Theme songs from various campaigns accompanied the talk and added to the festive atmosphere.

Presiding over the overflow crowd at the meeting was Joan Chardkoff who announced the national meeting to be held in New Orleans in November.

Minette Saber, program chairman, presented an overview of the year's programs and tentative programs for the next season. The speaker was introduced by Fred Huenefeld who reflected on the speakers outstanding political life.

On the registration table was a map of Louisiana, flanked by a title from New Orleans French Quarter and two musicians.

The mantle in the Fireside Room of the Bayou DeSiard Club reflected a brightly colored floral arrangement, accented by the state's Magnolia leaves arranged in an English Toby Mug.
