CCS Crusaders advance in playoffs
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Claiborne Christian Crusaders (14-17) defeated Georgetown 10-0 on Monday night to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class C baseball playoffs.

Jake Bell was the starting and winning pitcher for CCS. Bell pitched three perfect innings and struck out five batters with no hits or walks.

Zach Osbon was just as effective as he pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Crusaders.

CCS was led at the plate by Kip Robinson. Robinson was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Robinson was also a terror on the base path for Georgetown as he recorded three stolen bases in the victory.

Jesse Butler was 2-for-2 with a double as CCS recorded four extra base hits during the game that fueled the win.

Outside of district play and the last playoff game, all other games for the Crusaders were against larger schools.

"We have played a tough schedule this year," CCS head coach Chad Olinde said. "We have played real well and only have one senior on the team."

Claiborne Christian has not played like a young team on their quest for a state championship.

CCS will meet Summerfield on Friday at 4 p.m.
