Neville High School and West Ouachita High School took top honors at the recent Class 4A regional tennis tournament, held at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.

Neville won the overall team championship while West Ouachita took home the second-place trophy in the overall team standings.

Both boys and girls team from Neville notched team championships and several individual category victories for the Tigers.

Neville's Ben Blachard reached the singles championship match before losing to Tarrence Navarro of Leesville High School.

Mac Zenter Antis and Rob Narmor also qualified for the Class 4A state championships after their own strong showings for Neville.

In doubles action, Stuart Haddad and Gregory Boyce qualified along with the team of Nic Antis and Rob Narmor.

On the girls side for Neville, Sidney Bruscato won the girls singles title with a finals victory over Amy Williams of Leesville. Christianna Potter also made it to state in girls singles action.

In girls doubles, Neville took home the top two spots as Anna Raymond and Allie Watson defeated their teammates Molly Husted and Madison Guerriero in the finals.
"We were real proud of all our kids," West Ouachita head coach Randy Meyer said. "This was the first time the boys team has ever gotten this high and the girls were behind Neville for the second time."

Landon Smith and Cameron Phillips won the doubles competition with a finals win over Josh Vickery and Seth Vermaelem of Alexandria High School.

Also qualifying for the Chiefs in boys action was John Foster in boys singles. For the girls Erin Hoffpauir and Emily Weeks, Shannon Pine and Heather Bryan all qualified.

The LHSAA also ruled on Saturday morning that the West Ouachita doubles team of Trey Olinde and Destin Piercy will be heading to the state tournament as well.

The LHSAA Class 4A state tennis tournament is ongoing through May 9 at the Renaissance Health & Racquet Club in Houma.
