Rebels clash today in WM
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The West Monroe Rebels will be looking for a little revenge when they host the Ouachita Lions at 6 p.m. Thursday night at Shelby Aulds Field.

West Monroe lost to Ouachita for the first time in recent memory last week at Ouachita in a 13-3 blowout that was over after just five innings.

West Monroe did bounce back days later to beat Ruston by a margin of 8-3, but Ouachita is still soaring from their recent success as they head to West Monroe.

Ouachita has won three of their last four games, including a sweep of Natchitoches Central on Saturday, 11-0 and 17-9.

Ruston nipped Ouachita on Tuesday night by a score of 9-8 and now sits one game behind West Monroe in the district standings.

West Monroe can still claim the district championship with a win over Ouachita on Thursday or they will have a championship game with Ruston before the playoff brackets are decided early next week.

West Monroe has struggled to get the offense going in a timely manner as they went the first three innings without a run against Ouachita twice in the last two weeks.

The Rebels have a young pitching staff that was rocked inning after inning at Ouachita and the Rebels will be looking to correct those mistakes at home this week.

Ouachita, by contrast, has been improving each week and has had huge offensive production early and often to jump out on their opponents.

Adam Coco and Andy Roberts have been leading a Lion offense prone to big innings and timely hits.

West Monroe closes out the regular season on Saturday at Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport with a 2 p.m. start time. Thursday will end the regular season for Ouachita.
