The Ouachita Christian School Lady Eagles are headed back to the LHSAA state softball tournament after a 6-1 victory over No.16 St. Joseph-Plauchville.

The teams were deadlocked in the beginning as the third inning began without a run from either team.

Abby Kalil got the OCS offense going with a double to start the third inning and later scored on a double by Gracie Thaxton.

Thaxton picked up the win as the pitcher after allowing just one run and striking out 15 batters in seven complete innings for the Lady Eagles (20-3-1).

No. 2 OCS will be return to Frasch Park in Sulphur, where they lost the state championship game to Delcambre a year ago.

The journey back to the title game leads to South Plaquemines (20-2) who will meet OCS in Calcasieu Parish for a noon game on Friday.

South Plaquemines is known for great defense and pitching and has rounded into a solid all-around team this year.

Ten of the South Plaquemines wins have been by shutout and they defeated Delhi Charter (12-5) and False River (5-2) to reach the state tournament.
