St. Frederick begins quest

The St. Frederick Warriors received the No.3-seed in the 2009 LHSAA Class 1A baseball playoffs and will host South Cameron High School Thursday at 4 p.m.

Zach LaSuzzo has been outstanding pitching for the Warriors through district play and leads the team in victories on the mound.

Chris Buttitta leads St. Fred in runs and RBI while seeming to get a clutch base hit whenever his team needs a boost.

Cattar Kennedy has come on strong and been a steady arm and bat for St. Fred in the late stages of the regular season.

South Cameron (9-13) is the No.30 seed in these Class 1A playoffs and barely made the postseason after a rocky regular season.

South Cameron went 3-6 in a below average district where the champion, Hamilton Christian Academy, received just a No.22 seed.

St. Fred has had one of the best 1A offenses and proved they can play with anyone with a win over No.2 Sterlington out of Class 2A earlier this week.

The winner of St. Fred-South Cameron will play the winner of Hanson-Block in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs.
