Jody Biggar Bolton
Mrs. Jody Biggar Bolton, 39, of West Monroe, passed away on April 10, 2009, in Shreveport.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Clyde Sanchez officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bessie Biggar; grandfather, Hue Biggar; grandfather, Frank Tatara; and sister, Jennifer Biggar.
Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Tommy Bolton, and two beloved children, Erica and Luke Bolton, all of West Monroe; mother, Carol McBride and husband, James, of Monroe; father, Charles Biggar and wife, Rebecca, of Baton Rouge; grandmother, Stella Tatara of Monroe; three sisters, Kathy Willingham and husband, Jerry, of West Monroe, Ingrid McGuire and husband, Pat, of Franklin, Tenn., and Lea Ann Douglas and husband, Ryan, of Austin, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buck and Lila Bolton of West Monroe; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were Glen Nutzman, Roy Walton, Buddy Hart, Mike Downhour, Marvin Hays, and Jeff Galyean. Alternate pallbearer was Ronald Moore.

Fred A. Coon Jr.
Mr. Fred A. Coon, Jr., 90, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe.
His funeral was at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Errol Montgomery officiating. Interment was Thursday morning, April 23, at Riverview Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy; sister, Sara Florence and her husband, JW.
Survivors include his two sons, Clyde Coon of Houston, Texas, and Fred A. Coon III and his wife, Harryette, of Monroe; brother, Homer Stuntz and his wife, Billie, of Orange, Texas; sister-in-law, Betty Allen of Tolland, Conn.; grandsons, Charles Coon of Houston, Texas, and Fred A. Coon IV and his wife, Kristie, of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughter, Angela Wendell and her husband, David, and their two children, Tori and JW, of San Antonio, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers were the Ouachita Power Squadron.

C.W. Day
C.W. Day, 90, of West Monroe, passed away April 15, 2009, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Rick Crandall officiating. Interment was in Acree Cemetery in Point.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Bayles Day; two sons, Charles of West Monroe, Philip and wife, Jolene, of Albuquerque, special daughter-in-law, Laura Harmon and husband, Dave, of Edgewood; six grandchildren; Alissa Stuppy and husband, John of Albuquerque, Kimberly Day and fiancé, Aaron O'Donnell, of West Monroe, Brian and wife, Crystal, of Mesquite, Melinda Estrada and husband, Art, of Austin, Jeremy, U.S. Navy San Diego and wife, Charlene, U.S. Navy San Diego, Catherine of Austin; two great-grandchildren, Destinie and Faith Estrada, Brian and Crystal, who are expecting the arrival of the third great-grandchild, Deanna Lynn in August.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were deacons of McClendon Baptist Church .

Marvin Evans
Marvin Evans, 80, of West Monroe, passed away April 13, 2009, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Milton Pray officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Evans, and two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Weaver Evans; a daughter, Monica Duff and husband, Jerry; two sons, Dewey Thornhill and wife, Rhonda and Gary Evans and wife, Tori; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Seth Evans, Jerry Duff, Bobby and Donnie Sanders, Ronnie Dennis and Warren Landrum. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Grubbs and Bert Hatten.

Thomas Edward Fortenberry
Mr. Thomas Edward Fortenberry, 72, of West Monroe, passed away April 2, 2009, in West Monroe.
His service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Flora Fortenberry; and two daughters, Dixie Fortenberry and Robin Fortenberry Haley.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Juanita Fortenberry; son, Roy Fortenberry; two daughters, Teresa Green and husband, Ken, Tanya Alexander and husband, Mark; five grandchildren, Malea Smith, Martin Green, Erica Green, Zachary Alexander, Ian Alexander; one great-grandson, J.D. McKnight; and a special cousin, Johnny Roy Lambert.
Memorial may be made to Community Baptist Church Building Fund or West Monroe High School Girls Softball Program.

Anna Marie Carter Johnson
Mrs. Anna Marie Carter Johnson, 82, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009.
A memorial service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Weldon Bares and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josie Hargett Carter and Claiborne Edgerton Carter; and children, Merri Alana Johnson and Donald Clay Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Johnson; children, Judith Johnson of Monroe, Charles T. Johnson and wife, Carol Britton, of Dallas, Texas, and Patti Orlando and husband, Ben, of Monroe; and grandchildren, Caroline Flannery Johnson of Baton Rouge, Charles Connor Johnson of Ruston, Josie Aimee Orlando of Memphis, Tenn., and John B. Orlando of Monroe.

Florence Landry Kelly
Florence Landry Kelly, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 19, 2009, following a lengthy illness.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe with Rev. Mark Watson and Monsignor Edmund J. Moore officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Roy Arthur Kelly Sr.; her parents, Joseph Fenelon Landry Sr., and Meda LeBlanc Landry; her brothers, Joseph Preston Landry, Joseph Earl Landry and Joseph Fenelon Landry Jr.; and sisters, Mildred Ann Landry, Elaine L. Martin and Nina L. Breaux.
Survivors include her sister, Nell L. Caballero of Paincourtville; sons, Dr. Roy Arthur Kelly Jr. and his wife, Margy, of Houma; David Laurence Kelly and his wife, Jeri, of Baton Rouge; daughters, Maureen Ann Kelly of Monroe, Gayle K. Bowles and her husband, Randolph, of Tomball, Texas; Patricia K. Jones and her husband, Larry, of Monroe; Nell K. Seegers and her husband, Robert, of Monroe; and Mary Florence Kelly of Chicago, Ill. June Elizabeth LaValle
June Elizabeth LaValle, 86, of Monroe, passed away April 16, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F.V. LaValle, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Cecelia LaValle, Neilia LaValle, Deanna High and husband, Jack; son, Francis X. LaValle and wife, Debbie; granddaughters, Michele Smith and Elizabeth Scott High; step-grandsons, Kyle and Patrick Riley; great grandsons, Nicholas and Brandon Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Nicholas and Brandon Smith, Kyle and Patrick Riley, William J. LaValle and Dean Smith.

Robert E. Lee
Mr. Robert E. "Bobby" Lee, 75, of Monroe, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Allison Moody officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce; his stepbrother, Thomas Lolley; his mother, Virginia Lolley; his father, Robert E. Lee; and his stepfather, J.C. Lolley.
Survivors include son, Jeff Lee and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Tracey Lee Huff; grandchildren, Jack Lee, David Lee, Taylor Huff, Salley Huff and Lauren Huff; wife, Barbara Monroe Lee; stepson, Les Tarver and wife, Susan; stepdaughter, Denise Hill and husband, Tank; step grandchildren, Heather Hill Johnson and husband, Stewart, Justin Tarver and wife, Dana, Stephen Hill and wife, Kristen, and Josh Tarver.

Harper McKay
Funeral services for Mr. Harper McKay, 74, of West Monroe were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Interment was at New Chapel Hill Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe..
Survivors include his wife, Leslie Pearson McKay; three children, Kevin McKay and his wife, Laura, of St. Louis, Kent McKay and his wife, Jennifer, of Bossier City, Jason Mitchell and his wife, Amanda, of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Matt McKay, Gracie McKay, Katie McKay, Hampton Mitchell and Hallie Mitchell; mother, Mrs. Laura Bigner; sisters, Flo King and husband, Jim, and Beth Thacker and husband, Charles; brother, Charles McKay and wife, Carol; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna Thames Prewitt
Mrs. Edna Thames Prewitt, 94, of Downsville, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, at St. Francis North Hospital.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum with interment following. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Rev. Bruce Underwood officiated.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Lee Prewitt.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Prewitt and wife, Donna; granddaughter, Courtney Prewitt; step grandsons, Shane Cranford and Brent Cranford; and special friends, Glen and Troy Wink.

Steve Allen Rice Jr.
Steve Allen "Skip" Rice, Jr., 35, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, after a short illness.
His funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Dwight Munn officiating.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James E. Rice Sr., Jackie Rice, and Cal Scoggins; and his uncles, Jim, Fred and Doc.
Survivors include his mother, Karen Martin and husband, Malcolm, of Calhoun; his father, Steve Rice Sr. and wife, Julie, of Eros; one half-brother, Lee Simpson and wife, Tiffany, of Farmerville; grandmother, Norma Scoggins of Ruston; several aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and really good friends.

Charles Harrison Rollins
Charles Harrison (Bud) Rollins, 76, of Monroe died on Saturday, April 11, 2009, in Monroe.
A family gathering was held at the family home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Ann; his son, Charles H. Rollins III and his wife, Lisa, of Covington; two daughters, Charlotte Lewis and Millie Corrigan of New Orleans; two sisters, Peggy Lagersen and Katharine Caruthers of Shreveport; five grandchildren, Hunter Elizabeth Rollins, Charles H. Rollins IV, Erica, Meg and Myles Lewis, all of New Orleans.
Honorary pallbearers were John Mazur, John Boone, Jackie Barbo, Richard Snyder, Robert Raymond and Bret Sentell.

Lonnie R. Smith, 89, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens in West Monroe with Rev. Eddie Simmons officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Cassels and husband, Benny; grandchildren, Kelly Hudnall and Kathy Bower and husband, Brad; great-grandchildren, Connor Hudnall, Hannah Hudnall, Mary Kathryn Bower and Benjamin Bower; nieces, Sharon Carter, Laura Beth Anderson and Lurlene Pace.

Mr. Marlin Leon Smith Sr. 82, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Dennis Austin officiating. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport with Rev. Tim Matkin officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years (on Monday the 13th), Mary Ann Smith; four children, Kenneth Ray Smith of Shreveport, Marlin Leon Smith Jr. of Monroe, Rebecca Ann Smith of West Monroe, and Deborah Jane Opal and husband, Steve, of Snoqualmie, Wash.; grandchildren, Derrick Ray Smith, Timothy Miles Matkin, Bart Dwayne Smith, Mary Elizabeth Krogmeier, Brandi Glennon, Marlin Leon Smith III, Ann Lynn Smith, Logan Glennon; seven great-grandchildren from Washington state to Mississippi; nieces and nephews,Wanda and Dick Jett, Bob and Jo Ruth Maness, Melba and Parnell Oldham, Sharon and Jim Mabus, Ivan and Gloria Smith; and many great nieces and nephews.

Bonnie Jolene Stokes
Mrs. Bonnie Jolene Stokes, 81, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009.
A memorial service was at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ with John Dobbs officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at at McEuen Funeral Home in Searcy, Ark., with Bobby Stokes officiating. Interment was in White Co. Memorial Gardens in Searcy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amso; and granddaughter, McKenna Freels.
Survivors include her sister, Chloe Goin and husband, Woody; daughters, Roylene Charles and Kayren Freels; son, Bobby Stokes and wife, Jayme; grandsons, Rodney Charles, Matthew Freels and wife, Lauren, Daniel Freels, Cameron Freels, and Jarod Stokes and wife, Erin; granddaughters, Lindsey Eberts and husband, Curtis, Katelyn Kiihnl and husband, Clay, Chelsea and Julia Stokes; great-grandsons, Ezra Eberts and Jacob Freels.

Glendell Ricks Wilson
Mrs. Glendell Ricks Wilson, 77 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009, in Monroe.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, with Rev. Tony Smith officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Gene Wilson; son, Carl David Wilson; her parents, Burrel James and Rosa Ricks; her sister, Vernell Knighten and brother, James Ricks.
Survivors include her daughter, Roxie Whitlock; sons, L.E. Wilson and Eddie Wilson; grandchildren, Shawn Whitlock, Robert Whitlock, David Whitlock, Michael Wilson and Karla Wilson; sisters, Alvern Snowden and Bonnie May.
