Victor Carlisle Mitchell
Funeral services for Victor Carlisle Mitchell, age 68, of Monroe, will be held at 2 p.m., today, April 23, 2009, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe. Reverend Mark Fenn will officiate. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Victor was born Aug. 18, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to William Carlisle Mitchell and Eulagenia Smith Mitchell, and he passed away on April 18, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, from complications following a heart procedure.
Victor graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in finance. He played golf for the University of Houston and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After graduating in 1964, Victor moved to Riverdale, N.Y. and worked for Hayden Stone Brokerage Firm as a stock analyst training to be a stock broker. He moved to Monroe and began his career as a stock broker at Schneider, Bernet, and Hickman. He also worked for Merrill Lynch, AG Edwards, Edward Jones, and Raymond James.
Victor was an avid golfer and played tournaments throughout the South. He loved to hunt and ride horses. He won his division several times in the Northeast Louisiana Cutting Horse Association. He was a part-time rancher at his ranch, Casa de Campo, in Monroe. He had a very kind heart and loved his family very much.
Victor is preceded in death by his parents, William Carlisle Mitchell and Eulagenia Smith Mitchell; brother, William Eugene Mitchell; and daughter-in-law, Jody Dugas Mitchell.
He is survived by his son, John Patrick Mitchell and wife, Susan, of Monroe; daughters, Marianna Mitchell Leija and husband, Adolfo, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Victoria Marie Mitchell of Monroe; grandchildren, Maxwell Cannon Mitchell, Hannan Marie Mitchell, Cole Brandon Thomas, and Evan Jae Thomas; nephew, David Mitchell of Houston; nieces, Laura Mitchell and Emily Mitchell Covey of Houston; and sister, Dusky Ann Phillips of Camilla, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Rick Busher, Taylor Cagle, Grant Ethridge, John Lauve Jr., Drew Proctor and Carlton Wade.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Alexander, Clark Boyce, Ralph Brockman, Dickie Crow, Darrell Garrison, James Harris, Tom King, John Lauve Sr., Cliff Lawrence, Joe Ledoux, Dennis Marchman, Paul Mattingly, John Pruitt, Don Scott, Mike Smith, and John Van Veckhoven.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victor Mitchell Memorial Fund at Community Trust Bank.

Frances Louise Bearden
Mrs. Frances L. Bearden, 78, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, at First Apostolic Church of Monroe, with Revs. R.L. Endsley and Simeon Strickland officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Robbie Raines, Ruth McKnight, Dollie Henry, Maggie Hopper and Bertha Sturdivant; and brothers, Percy Higgins and Johnny Higgins.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Bearden and wife, Judy, and Gerald Bearden and wife, Daphne; daughters, Regina Popovic and husband Zeljko, Cynthia Burford and husband, Larry Wray, and Cheryl Martin and husband, Richard; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Lorena T. Brooks
Mrs. Lorena T. Brooks, 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Eunice.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brooks.
Survivors include her three children, Glenda Linzel and husband, Steve, Bo Toney and wife, Lisa, and Neacie Turner and husband, Jeff; sisters, Barbara Aucoin and Audrey Corville; grandchildren, Shelly, Tara, Jerard, Erin, Bailey, Trent, and Jenna; her great-grandchild, Ashley; and a host of nephews.
Willie Mae Burris
Mrs. Willie Mae Burris, 90, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Scott Thompson officiating. Interment was at Sikes Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Burris.
Survivors include five children, Joseph Cromwell and wife, Robbie, Ruby Rice, Marie Brown, Michael Cromwell and Sue Booth and husband, Terry; two sisters, Alice Loftin and Betty Parker; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Cromwell, John Cromwell, Thomas Cromwell, Kyle Cromwell, Freddy McFall Jr., Jeremy Foster, John Foster and Sean Cromwell.
Mattie Clower
Mrs. Mattie Clower, 89, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Elbert Clower; two brothers-in-law, James K. Clower and Ernest E. Clower; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bill Clower, William J. Clower, Billy Kolb, Brian Ducote, Rob Dehn and Jamie Stricklin.
Terry Covington
Graveside services for Mrs. Terry Covington, 70, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Shanks Cemetery with Bro. Mack Gilbert officiating. Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe handled arrangements.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Buddy Covington; son, Bobby and wife, Bettie James; grandchildren, Joshua Pepper, Monica Gilbert, Joseph Pepper, Haylen Boatner and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
William Warren Dykes
William "Billy" Warren Dykes, 37, of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Shreveport.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with pastor Marla Munn officiating. Interment was at Mt. Olive Cemetery in West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Albert Lowery.

Tempie Griffin Grant
Mrs. Tempie Griffin Grant, 87, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at her residence.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Revs. Jimmy Pyles and Joseph Guo officiating. Interment was in Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery in Eros.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Grant.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Grant and wife, Peggy, Jamie Grant and wife, Susie, all of West Monroe; three grandsons; three step-grandsons; five great-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Blanche Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were the men of Antioch Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Antioch Methodist Church Building and Cemetery Funds.
Pete Haddad
Memorial and celebration of life services for Pete Haddad, 91, of Haughton, will be held at a later date at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.
Mr. Haddad died recently in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma DeRossett Haddad.
Survivors include his three daughters, Carol H. Simonton and husband, Sammie C., of Haughton, Gloria H. Auch and husband, Robert, of Portland, Ore. and their children, Savannah and Jonathan Auch, and Terri H. Davis of Springfield, Mo. and children, Phillip and Paul Davis; one brother, Jasper Haddad and wife, Inez, of Monroe; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Peter Kenfield Harris Sr.
Mr. Peter Kenfield "Pete" Harris Sr., 76, of Calhoun, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009, in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Adrian Fischer officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian Haywood Harris Jr. and Agnes Kenfield Harris; his mother and father-in-law, Wayne Henry and Marion Hart Huckaby of Monroe; and a brother, Lucian H. Harris III of Oviedo, Fla.

Mrs. Marjorie "Peggy" O. Brantley Johnson, 88, of West Monroe, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009, in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 13, at Brantley Cemetery in Pioneer, with Rev. Rick Crandall officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Johnson Sr. and brother, Kenneth Brantley.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann Dollar; son, Charles L. Johnson Jr. and wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Jon Dollar and wife, Lana, Mark Dollar and wife, Lisa, Scott Dollar and wife, Dalila, Andrea Johnson Brashier and husband, Jay, and Anissa Johnson Ates and husband, Shane; sisters and brothers, Maxine Osborn and husband, Joe, Katie Boyd and husband, Roy, Bobby Brantley and wife, Betty, Bettye Ingram, Charles Brantley and wife, Evelyn, and Wayne Brantley and wife, Adonna; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Melissa Franks Prisoc
Mrs. Melissa Franks Prisoc, 39, of West Monroe, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Living Way Apostolic Church in West Monroe with Bro. Nathan Thornton officiating. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jackie Franks and mother, Sherry Franks.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip Prisoc; son, Jacob Waggoner; daughters, Ashleigh Prisoc McCarty and husband, Craig, Alyson Prisoc and Tiffany Prisoc; brothers. Cary Franks, Jamie Franks and wife. Rachel; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Heath Pyle
Heath Pyle, 34, of Downsville, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, in Minden, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident over 5 years ago.
Graveside and interment services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun with Rev. Jerry Whitman officiating. Services were under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Amiee Christine "Christy" Underwood Pyle; daughters, Haleigh and Harley Pyle; parents, Duaine and Virginia Pyle; sister, June Kilpatrick and husband, Pat; brothers David Pyle and wife, Debra, and Adrian Pyle and wife, Kim; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Agnes E. Beard Brown Shandy, 94, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009, in West Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C. R. and Sarah Beard, brothers, Oliver Smith, Alchyny Beard and Mack Beard; husband, Charles L. Brown and Bain Shandy.

Michael Shoemaker
Michael Shoemaker, 50, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. David Mayo officiating.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Shoemaker; brother, Greg Mcqueen; and a very special mother-in-law, Maxine "Mother George" George.
Survivors include his mother, Earline Shoemaker; sister, Linda; brothers, Bobby and Paul; wife and best friend, Tanya Shoemaker; sons, Michael E. Shoemaker and wife, Tinna, and Travis Coie; daughters, Michelle Buchan and husband, Stacy, Sarah and Charllotte Shoemaker; special daughter, Natasha Shoemaker and husband-to-be, Doug Terral, along with their impending bundle of joy; and Shelby Coie; numerous grandchildren; and very special friend and confidant, Bill Ashworth.

Benny Harold Weaver
Mr. Benny Harold Weaver, 76, of West Monroe, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Allan Robertson and Mac Owen officiating. Interment was at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mattie Weaver and brother, EC Weaver.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Evelyn Whitman Weaver; daughter, Angela Weaver Jackson; granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Jackson; brother, Marshall Weaver and wife Sally; and numerous nieces and nephews.
