Obituaries published April 23,2009 Victor Carlisle Mitchell Funeral services for Victor Carlisle Mitchell, age 68, of Monroe, will be held at 2 p.m., today, April 23, 2009, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe. Reverend Mark Fenn will officiate. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Victor was born Aug. 18, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to William Carlisle Mitchell and Eulagenia Smith Mitchell, and he passed away on April 18, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, from complications following a heart procedure. Victor graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in finance. He played golf for the University of Houston and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After graduating in 1964, Victor moved to Riverdale, N.Y. and worked for Hayden Stone Brokerage Firm as a stock analyst training to be a stock broker. He moved to Monroe and began his career as a stock broker at Schneider, Bernet, and Hickman. He also worked for Merrill Lynch, AG Edwards, Edward Jones, and Raymond James. Victor was an avid golfer and played tournaments throughout the South. He loved to hunt and ride horses. He won his division several times in the Northeast Louisiana Cutting Horse Association. He was a part-time rancher at his ranch, Casa de Campo, in Monroe. He had a very kind heart and loved his family very much. Victor is preceded in death by his parents, William Carlisle Mitchell and Eulagenia Smith Mitchell; brother, William Eugene Mitchell; and daughter-in-law, Jody Dugas Mitchell. He is survived by his son, John Patrick Mitchell and wife, Susan, of Monroe; daughters, Marianna Mitchell Leija and husband, Adolfo, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Victoria Marie Mitchell of Monroe; grandchildren, Maxwell Cannon Mitchell, Hannan Marie Mitchell, Cole Brandon Thomas, and Evan Jae Thomas; nephew, David Mitchell of Houston; nieces, Laura Mitchell and Emily Mitchell Covey of Houston; and sister, Dusky Ann Phillips of Camilla, Texas. Pallbearers will be Rick Busher, Taylor Cagle, Grant Ethridge, John Lauve Jr., Drew Proctor and Carlton Wade. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Alexander, Clark Boyce, Ralph Brockman, Dickie Crow, Darrell Garrison, James Harris, Tom King, John Lauve Sr., Cliff Lawrence, Joe Ledoux, Dennis Marchman, Paul Mattingly, John Pruitt, Don Scott, Mike Smith, and John Van Veckhoven. Frances Louise Bearden Mrs. Frances L. Bearden, 78, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in West Monroe. Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, at First Apostolic Church of Monroe, with Revs. R.L. Endsley and Simeon Strickland officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Robbie Raines, Ruth McKnight, Dollie Henry, Maggie Hopper and Bertha Sturdivant; and brothers, Percy Higgins and Johnny Higgins. Survivors include her sons, Larry Bearden and wife, Judy, and Gerald Bearden and wife, Daphne; daughters, Regina Popovic and husband Zeljko, Cynthia Burford and husband, Larry Wray, and Cheryl Martin and husband, Richard; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Willie Mae Burris Mrs. Willie Mae Burris, 90, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009, in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Burris.
