West Ouachita still ahead in District 2-4A

The West Ouachita Chiefs are sweeping through district 2-4A this season and are poised to bring home another district crown to Cadeville.

West Ouachita (17-7, 6-0) recently swept a three-game series from Franklin Parish High School to improve on their perfect district mark.

West Ouachita is averaging 15.8 runs per game in district play while allowing just four runs in six games for a 0.66 runs per game average.

The Chiefs have gotten timely hits and big pitching performances along the way to put the team in a position to win another district championship for head coach Mitch Thomas.

Thomas pulls double duty as athletic director and head coach of the football team , and seems to have the baseball team pointed toward gold once again.

The road certainly gets tougher for the Chiefs as playoff time approaches. Bastrop is up next for the Chiefs as they meet in a three-game series this week.

West Ouachita will host Bastrop in a double-header beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Bastrop is currently in fourth-place in the district after losing three straight to Neville last week.

West Ouachita will host Class 2A powerhouse Sterlington in another local rivalry game on Tuesday of next week beginning at 6 p.m.

Perhaps the district championship could be on the line next weekend when the Neville Tigers clash with the Chiefs in a three-game series. West Ouachita will also host the last two games of that series in a Saturday double-header.
