Warriors look to clinch district
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The St. Frederick Warriors still have two more district ball games to go but can win the championship of district 2-1A this week.

St. Frederick will host Cedar Creek (17-3, 5-2) at 6 p.m. and if the Warriors win they will be the district champions with only one game left in the district schedule.

St. Frederick will travel to OCS on Monday night in what will still be a heated rivalry game regardless of the district standings.

The Warriors pounded OCS 18-9 and collected 15 hits in the game. The win helped the Warriors jump to No.2 in the latest Class 1A coach's poll.

OCS is currently fifth and has won five straight since the loss to St. Fred. St. Fred is two games ahead of OCS and Cedar Creek in the district standings and Arcadia, Bernice, and Grambling round out the district 2-1A standings.

Cedar Creek could force the Warriors to wait until Monday if they pull through with a victory, however St. Frederick ripped through the Cougars on March 30 by a score of 12-3.

Zach Lasuzzo and Christian Sagar have been the steady pitching arms as of late for the Warriors.

Chris Buttitta, John Edwards and Landon Williams have been a large part of a St. Frederick offense that is averaging 14.5 runs per game in district play.

The Warriors have also rode a strong pitching staff through district play that has produced three shut out victories and allowed just one run against Arcadia last week.
