The l00th State Conference of the Louisiana Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was attended by a delegation of Chief Tusquahoma members.

The President General from Washington, D.C. — Linda Gist Calvin — was the honored guest at the conference.

The three-day meeting included business sessions, a memorial service for deceased members, various luncheons, and a gala in honor of the President General.

A history book of all of the Louisiana Chapters was distributed after the gala, a much anticipated event. Chief Tusquahoma Chapter returned with the following Awards: President General's Award for 100 percent Participation in "Open the Doors of Hospitality," in which the project is to make necessary repairs to the buildings in Washington, D.C.; Outstanding Service to DAR Schools — Gail Collins, chairman; Flag of the United States — Billie Alderman, chairman; Volunteer Information Service — first place; Website Award, Use of Computer in DAR Activities — Gwen Clark, VIS chairman; Smoke Signals, the Chapter Newspaper — first place - Toni Rodgers, chairman; Constitution Week Bell Ringing first place; Constitution Week Events - second place; Constitution Week Scrapbook, third place - Gwen Clark - chairman; Public Relations, Conservation Publicity; Genealogy - second place with 24, 054 names logged; Conservation Report - third place - Toni Rodgers - chairman; Genealogical Records (27 pages) second place by Mary K. Reighney - Toni Rodgers, chairman; Service to Veterans, third place, Barbara Gewin, chairman; Membership Contest, first place, Gwen Clark, Viola Nugent, chairman.

Five more projects are being judged at National for Chief Tusquahoma. The LSDAR Project Patriot chairman presented Chief with a certificate for collecting 265 cell phones to be programmed for free minutes in the "Cell Phones for Soldiers," the most cell phones collected from one chapter in the state.

Thank you West Ridge and Calhoun Middle Schools for helping with this effort.

Chief Tusquahoma members attending the Conference were Viola Nugent, Toni Rodgers, Gwen Clark, Gail Collins, Christy Edwards, Lillian Dunlap, Barbara Gewin, Sue Parker and Suzanne Causey.
