Bob Beene
Memorial services for Mr. Bob Beene, 79, of Monroe, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Bayou Oaks Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Sanchez officiating. A reception followed.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Washington Beene; brother, Doris Beene; father, Walter Beene; and mother, Dessie Mae Wilson.
Bob was blessed in life to have two loving families. From his union with Betty Washington, he had two children: his son, Dr. Stephen Michael Beene and daughter-in-law, Dr. Karen Beene; his daughter, Patti Frost and son-in-law Joe; grandchildren, Angela Copeland, Rebekah Beene Willis, Carrie Shipley, and Stephanie Beene; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Copeland, Chad Copeland, and Luke Willis. From the marriage with Lou Walker, he was blessed with her five children: Kelly Justice and son-in-law Billy, Jay Walker and daughter-in-law Mishka, Derek Walker, Grant Walker, and Bobby Wofford; grandchildren, Jordan Roark, Jenna Justice, Samuel Walker, and Connor Wofford. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Baldridge and husband Robert, May Wilson and husband Ray.

Billie Eskew
Billie Royce Eskew, 69, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment was at Monroe Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn Eskew; sisters, Barbara Sue Rocomonotius and Carolyn Jaynes; and son, Royce Eskew.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Webb Eskew of Monroe; daughter, Theresa E. Meredith and husband, Tim, of Monroe; son, Glenn A. Eskew and wife, Patty; daughter-in-law, Denise Eskew (wife of late Royce Eskew); sisters, Gerry Eskew of Cartersville, Ga., Sandra Benningfield of Lufkin, Texas, and Jane Terrel of Jena; brother, George Eskew of Waco, Texas; granddaughter, Brooklyn Eskew; grandsons, Brian Eskew and wife, Katie, Eric Eskew, Brad Eskew, Trevor Eskew and Daniel Eskew, all of Monroe; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Webb Crecink, Douglas Haynes III, Blake Wheelis, Brian Eskew, Eric Eskew and Brad Eskew. Honorary pallbearers were Brook Eskew, Trevor Eskew and Daniel Eskew.
Bonnie Marie Carney Evans
Mrs. Bonnie Marie Carney Evans, 88, of West Monroe, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Tuck Roberts officiating. Interment was at Luna Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lee Edward Evans and sister, Lessie South.
Survivors include her son, Larry J. Evans and wife, Claudia, of West Monroe; grandson, Chris Evans and wife, Lisa, of Plano, Texas; granddaughters, Donna Peters and husband, Michael, of West Monroe, Nikki Russell and husband, Dan, of West Monroe, Terri Ainsworth of West Monroe; grandson, Jeff Ainsworth and wife, Kim, of Rayville; great-grandchildren, Whitney and Albany Peters and Mason Evans; one niece, and numerous great nieces and nephews, all of Texas.
Orene Grant Gewin
A celebration of life was observed for Mrs. Orene Grant Gewin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at North Monroe Baptist Church with the Revs. David Worthington, Dwight Munn and Eric Hodge officiating. Interment was at Loch Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery in Swartz under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Mrs. Gewin, of Monroe, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the Louisiana State University Medical Sciences Center, in Shreveport, following a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings J. L. Grant, Laverne Johns, and Ollie Aswell, and by her husbands Warren Johns, and Kennie Ernest Gewin.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Johns and his, wife, Helen, of Crossett, Ark.; two daughters, Donna Strickland and husband, Hollis, of West Monroe, and Brenda Brant and husband, Don, of Monroe; sister, Kate Bell Caskey and husband, Kent, of Bastrop; and brother-in-law, Homer Aswell, of Dallas, Texas.
Grandchildren are Tamara Reid and her husband, Leslie, Susan Kitchens, Michael Johns, Kiley Haught and husband, Chad, Truett Glass and wife, Charlotte, Lea Ann Reynolds and husband, Randy, Joel Strickland and wife, Liz, Elizabeth Glass and husband, Todd, Amy Brooks and husband, Lance, Kathryn Fendall and husband, Michael, Deborah Biggerstaff and husband, Daniel, and Patricia Brant.
Also, great grandchildren, Lydia and Lexie Reid, Caleb and Cade Kitchens, Haleigh and Hannah Johns, Emily, Andrew Glass, Justin Glass, Jackson, Ellie, and Cooper Haught, Caitlin and Caleb Reynolds, Gabbi, Holli, and Jared Strickland, Hunter, Sarah Grace, and Logan Brooks, Myranda, Dylan, Brittney and Brittany Caroline Fendall, Madison, Cain, and Wyatt Biggerstaff, Sophie and Lily Padgett and numerous nieces and nephews.

Martha Sue Hendry
Mrs. Martha Sue Hendry, 66, of West Monroe, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Highland Baptist Church in West Monroe, with Revs. Gordon "Skip" Dean and Robbie Robinson officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Calhoun.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Arien Freeman; brothers, William "Bill" and Jerry Freeman; sisters, Betty Jo and Mary Freeman.
Survivors include her husband, Louie Hendry; children, Thomas D. Elledge, Tammie Pate and husband, Franklin, Lisa Hembree and husband Jeff, and Eric Hendry; grandchildren, Jordan Elledge, Austin Elledge, Graham Creery, Haley Evans, Ellen Pate, Abby Pate, Ben Hembree and Heather LaRoux; four great-grandchildren; brother, James Robert Freeman and wife, Rita; sisters-in-law, Pearlie Freeman and Mary Ann Freeman; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Charles Harold Holder, 56, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Bruce Underwood officiating. Interment was at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mignon Frances Holder, niece, Jackie Faircloth Holder Gibson and her husband, Charles Gibson.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 30 years, Lenora Carr Holder; father, Ret. Major Jack Holder; brothers, Joe Holder and Jack Holder Jr., and wife, Sharon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Joe Holder, Jack Holder Jr., Travis Lewis, Willie Carr, Wayne Carr and Robert Carr. Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Carr and Kevin Elliott.
Willene Hightower Humphries
Mrs. Willene Hightower Humphries, 87, of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Cypress Street Church of God with Rev. Dennis Anger officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Hightower; husband, Dewey Humphries; son, Little Dewey; daughter, Priscilla; grandson, Barry Easterling; and brother, Hiamon Hightower.
Survivors include her daughter, Cherie Easterling and husband, Jimmy; son, Duane Humphries and wife, Gail; granddaughter, Gretchen Pettis and husband, Rick; grandson, Gregory Breland and wife, Cathy; granddaughter, Mary Katherine Humphries; five great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kelsey Breland, Grace, Christopher and Chandler Pettis; and her church family.
Mary Lee Frost Moore
Mrs. Mary Lee Frost Moore, 82, of West Monroe, passed away in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, following a lengthy illness.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Mulhearn Funeral Home with Dr. Lionel Crowell officiating. Interment was in New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Sidney Frost and her mother, Annie Mae Gilliland Frost of West Monroe.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 years, Oliver Ellsworth Moore Jr.; daughter, Linda Moore Richardson and husband ,Gary, of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Oliver E. "Skip" Moore III and wife, Nancy, of West Monroe; brother, James Albert Frost; and six grandchildren, Sidney and Matt Richardson, Olivia and Laura Beth Moore, and Jay and Emily Bailes.
Pallbearers were Velton Frost, Frank Rose, Michael Rose, Robert Ballard, Patrick Campbell and Jay Bailes.

Lerah Hammock Morgan
Mrs. Lerah Hammock Morgan, 88, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, April 3, at Hasley Cemetery with Rev. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Brady W. Morgan; son, Jim Morgan and wife, Jeanette; grandson, Michael Blake Morgan, all of West Monroe; sister, Brownie Ross of New Braunfels, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dennis Morgan, Brad Morgan, Bruce Morgan, Randy Morgan, Pete Ross, Milton Ross, Butch Ross and Bill Duncan.
Mary Alice Norris
A funeral Mass for Mary Norris (Mary Sam) (Sr. Mary Cabrini, D.C.) was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She died Tuesday, March 31, at St. Joseph's Home.
Survivors include her brother, Pascal Norris and wife, Helen, nephews, Jim Norris and wife Amy, Richard Norris and wife, Marie Jo, and Paul Norris and wife, Carolyn.
Cascille Lois Howze Smith Osbon
Mrs. Cascille Lois Howze Smith Osbon died peacefully in the care of her loving family on March 28, 2009, following a brief illness.
Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Osbon were at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Cal Adams officiating. Graveside services were at Hasley Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James (Hawk) Smith; her brothers, John Howze, Didymus (Blackie) Howze, Odis Howze; sisters, Emma Brown, Minnie Panzico and Florence Parker; and great-granddaughter, Haileigh Martin.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Edgar N. Osbon of Bastrop; her son, Jim Smith and his wife, Ann, of West Monroe; daughters, Dolores (Dolly) Smith, West Monroe, and Yvonne Drummond and her husband, James, of Monroe; brother, Marvin Howze and wife, Mae, of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatggrandson.
Honoring Mrs. Osbon as pallbearers were Laris Breaux, Keith Martin, Greg Smith, Charles Smith, Jeff Williams, Eddie Nugent, Scottie Nugent and Kenny Drummond.
Lee Goree Osborne
Mrs. Lee (Goree) Osborne, 64, of Sterlington, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009, in Winnfield.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Rev. Aaron Gowens officiating. Interment was at Bethlehem Cemetery in Calvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Goree and Willie Mae (Persons) Goree; her husband, William Osborne; daughter, Angie Sims; son, Jesse Bland; and son-in-law, Claude Hayes.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Hayes of Winnfield and Rena Sims of Missouri; three sons, Herman Bland of Ruston, Richard Bland of Winnfield and Robert Lee Sims of Missouri; one sister, Patsy Massey of Strong, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mr. William Odis "Bill" Risher, 82, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009, in West Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucy Risher; a brother, Douglas Risher; mother and father-in-law, George and Viola Bailey; sisters; Elaine Bennett and Vernice Caples; brother, Douglas Risher; and grandson, Howard James Risher.
Survivors include his wife, June B. Risher; daughter, Dianne Hatfield and husband, Burl; sons; Terry Risher and wife, Rhonda, Glenn Risher and wife, Diane; sister, Aleatha Brown; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Mr. Percy Barnett "Son" Savage, 87, of Monroe, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
Graveside services were at Taylor Liberty Hill Cemetery near Farmerville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Bowlin Savage; parents, Bill Heard and Dub Savage and a brother, Tinker Savage.
Survivors include his son, Michael Barnette "Boo" Savage; two sisters, Eddice Pickel and Totsy Albritton; and several nieces and nephews.
Anissa Sibley
Miss Anissa Sibley, 37, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, after a lengthy illness.

Geraldine Seals Underwood
Mrs. Geraldine Seals Underwood, 82, of Bogalusa, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in Monroe.
Memorial services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Charles Underwood; parents, Charles and Ruby Huey Seals; and four brothers, Woodrow Seals, Charles Seals Sr., Carl Seals, Richard Seals; and a sister, Evelyn Seals. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Virgil Underwood; son, Geoff Underwood and wife, Donna; brother, Bob Seals and wife, Sylvia; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Underwood; granddaughter, Sarah Underwood; grandsons, Geoffrey Underwood and wife, Robin, and Alex Underwood; great-grandchildren, Grace, Emma, and Roger Underwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Clotilde Wink, 95, of West Monroe, went to be with her beloved Lord on Sunday, March 29, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Fair Park Baptist Church in West Monroe. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe with Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. Arrangements were by Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Webb Austin Wink; parents, John and Maude Douglas; and sons, Albert of West Monroe, Austin of Mobile, Ala., and Douglas of Baton Rouge.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Wink Whitlock and husband, Royce, Rita Mann and husband, Donnie, of West Monroe and Kaye Wink and husband, Russell, of Jonesboro; two daughters-in-law, Ollivee Wink of Mobile, Ala., and Kathy Wink of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Whitlock and wife, Tammy, Chris Hodnett and wife, Sheryn, and Bryan Hodnett, all of West Monroe, Donna Mann of Shreveport, Roycelyn Bowman and husband, Mike, of Galesville, Md., John Wink and wife, Patty, Judy Walters and husband, Derek, Lisa Fountain, Allyson McNeil and husband, Kenny, all of Mobile, Ala; 22 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Case, Steve Vallery, Steve Walker, Steve Teel, Ron Nix and George Abbott. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the church.
