April 'Wild Friday' features nature walk
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
April is a month when the frogs and insects and other night loving creatures join in their sometimes raucous spring sing.

On Friday, April 24, Interpretive Naturalist Gay Brantley will lead an evening walk along the Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge nature trail and out on the new pier extension to enjoy the "Calls of the Wild" concert.

This "Wild Friday" walk will begin at 7 p.m., at the refuge visitor center parking lot. Insect repellent and a flashlight are recommended. This guided walk is most appropriate for adults and children who will walk quietly and listen. In the event of bad weather, "Sights and Sounds of the Night" with be presented in the Conservation Learning Center.

Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located north of Monroe on Richland Drive of Hwy 165. The program is free an open to the public.

For more information, contact Gay Brantley at 387-1114.
