TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Designated hitter Brandon May collected four hits and four RBI Saturday night to lead No. 29 Alabama to a 13-5 win over second-ranked LSU at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Alabama's win evened the series at one game apiece and improved the Tide to 22-11 overall and 7-7 in the SEC. LSU dropped to 25-9 overall, 9-5 in league play. The Tigers remained in second place in the SEC Western Division, one game behind Arkansas (10-4)

LSU and Alabama meet in Game 3 of the series at 2 p.m. CT Sunday. The game can be heard on the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network, and live audio and stats are available in the Geaux Zone at www.LSUsports.net.

Sunday's game will be televised by Cox Sports Television and Comcast Sports Southeast, and it can be seen on stations throughout Louisiana. Check local listings for details.

LSU will attempt to win its ninth straight SEC series on Sunday. The Tigers have not lost an SEC series since April of 2008 versus Georgia.

Senior right-hander Louis Coleman (7-1, 2.11 ERA) will start on the mound for LSU, while Alabama will counter with junior right-hander Adam Scott (1-0, 3.38 ERA).

"Alabama has a great offensive club, and they showed why the lead the league in hitting," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "They took advantage of some walks and got several timely base hits. We knew this would be a very challenging series, so I know our players will be ready for (Sunday)."

May was 4-for-4 Saturday with two doubles and four RBI Saturday to pace Alabama's 16-hit attack. LSU was led by designated hitter Blake Dean, who was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI.

Dean's two-run homer in the fifth – his first dinger since Feb. 25 versus Southern – gave LSU a 2-1 lead, but Alabama responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame against LSU starter Austin Ross.

Ross walked second baseman Ross Wilson and rightfielder Kent Matthes, and they later scored on May's two-run single to give the Tide a 3-2 lead.

Alabama expanded the lead to 9-2 in the sixth with six runs on five hits against relievers Ryan Byrd and Ben Alsup. May's two-RBI double highlighted the outburst, which also included an RBI single by first baseman Wes Henderson, a two-run single by Matthes and an RBI single by third baseman Jake Smith.

Meanwhile, Alabama starter Del Howell limited LSU to five runs on 10 hits in seven innings with two walks and nine strikeouts as he improved his record to 4-1.

Ross (4-4) was charged with the loss as he allowed three runs on six hits in five innings with four walks and five strikeouts.
