Tigers, Bastrop

this weekend

The Neville Tigers (12-9-1, 5-1) are currently second behind West Ouachita in the latest District 2-4A standings.
Neville won two-of-three games against Franklin Parish this past weekend and then dismantled Carroll 18-0 Monday evening.
Against Franklin Parish, Neville won the first game, 9-1, behind a solid defense and timely hitting, which put Neville up early, setting the stage for Neville's field play to seal the win.
Truman Van Veckhoven and Johnny Joplin continue to swing well for the Tigers as they collected multiple RBI hits over the weekend.
Matt Gayle also continued to pitch and hit at will. He leads the team with a .444 batting average.
Gayle also has gotten a couple of pitching wins as of late for Neville. The deep pitching rotation at Neville has given most opponents fits this season.
Neville won the series in the first game of a Saturday double-header when the Tigers beat Franklin Parish, 10-0.
Gayle, Joplin, and Drew Narmor all collected multiple hits and RBI as the Neville defense really shined in not allowing Franklin Parish to threaten to score during the game.
Neville let its guard down in the final game of the series as Franklin Parish beat the Tigers 5-2 Saturday afternoon.
Jonathan Eaton and Ethan Bass collected RBI hits for the Patriots as they avoided a sweep by the Tigers.
Neville will return to action this weekend in a three-game series against the Bastrop Rams.
Bastrop hosts Neville Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Barron Ballpark. Neville will host a 2 p.m. double-header against the Rams Saturday to complete the district 2-4A weekend series.
