Septieme meets at library

The March meeting of Septieme Society met to hear Larry Foreman from the Genealogy Department of the Ouachita Parish Library speak on the history of West Monroe.

The meeting was held at the West Monroe branch of the library on Cypress Street.

Foreman informed the club and guests that the town's early development centered around cotton, livestock and trade. Earlier records indicated the town was prosperous and most of the current streets, buildings and schools were named for the citizens of that era.

Guests included Jan McCardle, Bonnie Crow, Barbara Elliott and Pat Brasher.

Septieme members present were Betty Frost, Ann McDuffie, Sandy Dufrene, Harriet Winn, Amanda Barry, Liz Billings, Marilyn Daniel, Bobbie Frazier, Linda Hobson, Glenda Wilhite and Camille Adair. Hostess members were Linda Titus, Charlotte Rogers, Donna Payne and Martha Bacon.
