Neville ready for FPHS

Tigers net two wins against Carroll

After two convincing wins over the Carroll Bulldogs in the past week, the Neville Tigers are set to continue district 2-4A play with three games scheduled against the Franklin Parish Patriots.
The Tigers (10-8-1, 3-0) have pounded the ball lately and coaches also seem to be impressed with the team's pitching staff.
Andrew Parker has been one of the steadiest arms for Neville as of late. Johnny Joplin and Matt Gayle are also pitching lights out in relief for the Tigers through the first three district ballgames.
Neville, ranked No.10 in Class 4A, will travel on Thursday night to Franklin Parish (9-9, 2-1) to take on a Patriots team that has been hitting the ball extremely well so far this season.
"We are working on getting better fundamentally," Neville head coach Tim O'Neal said. "We have done a pretty good job throwing the baseball."
Jonathan Eaton is batting .519 on the season for Franklin Parish including nine RBI. Eaton is joined by Jordan Temple and Tyler Roberts who recorded two hits each in a Saturday double-header against Bastrop.
Franklin Parish's Temple and Ethan Bass (2-1) have been good on the mound in the starting pitcher role for the Patriots.
Neville is looking to get either a series win or sweep over the Patriots in what would prove to give them a huge advantage in the district standings with games against arch-rival West Ouachita still left to be played.
The district championship has been decided between Neville and West Ouachita each of the last five years.
Following the Thursday night game, the two teams will meet at Neville for a 2 p.m. double-header in Monroe.
