The Ouachita River Art Gallery is featuring a tribute to artist June K. Ivy in April.

Ivy passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 13, 2009.

This show is comprised of paintings that have been shown in many different shows throughout the years. Ivy, originally from Fondale, south of Monroe, resided with her husband, Lavelle, on Lake D'Arbonne at Farmerville.

She belonged to several art associations, and was past president of D'Arbonne Regional Art Association. She used several art mediums and her works range from realistic to whimsical.

Ivy's works have been shown in competitions and museums in several states and are in private collections all over the United States. She painted like she lived, with exuberance, energy and color.

The Ouachita River Art Gallery, located at 308 Trenton St. in West Monroe, has been designated part of the Cottonport Historic Cultural District and is sales-tax–free on purchases of original art. The gallery is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free. Call 322-2380 for more information.
