The City of Monroe Department of Community Affairs and Chennault Park Golf Course will host a local qualifying tournament for the 2009 ESPN National Golf Challenge.

The event will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 25.

The ESPN National Golf Challenge will crown the best two-person teams in America during the National Finals event to be held in Las Vegas Oct. 22-24. The finals will be broadcast on ESPN2.

The event is open to all male and female golfers with USGA approved handicaps. Teams will consist of two amateur players participating in either the Gross or Net or Senior (55 or older) Net divisions. The number of winning teams moving on to the regional finals will depend on the number of entries for the qualifying tournament. Chennault Park Golf Course will qualify up to eight (8) teams that will advance through to the regional tournament.

The entry fee for this event is $150 per team ($75 per player) and includes tournament round with cart, lunch, 1 dozen Callaway Tour IX golf balls and a one-year subscription to Golf Magazine.

Entry forms and information are located in the pro-shop at Chennault Park Golf course.
