Lillian Laird Duff and her daughter, Linda Niemeir, co-authors of the book "Sharecropping in North Louisiana: A Family's Struggle Through the Great Depression," will hold a book signing from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 14.

The event will be held at Blessings Bookstore on Cypress Street in Monroe.

According to Niemeir, "This is the true story of my mother growing up in the 20s, 30s, and 40s south of Monroe in Richland and Caldwell Parishes.

"She tells in the book the lifestyle of the rural farmer during the depression years and how hard sharecropping was for families during that time. There are many old pictures of the family and their animals in the book.

"We have found that young and elder people alike have enjoyed the book because the senior citizens have memories of that era of history and young people can find out about history from this family's life."
