Lela Mae Brunson
Lela Mae Woodward Poindexter Brunson, 94, earned her angel wings on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings; husbands, Jim Poindexter Sr., and Thomas Brunson; son, Jim "Joe" Poindexter Jr.; sons-in-law, Jule Gilley Jr., John Wayne Graham and Karl Buelow; and grandson, Wayne Poindexter.
Survivors include her daughter, Bobbye Buelow of Monroe; daughter Gay Driscoll and husband, Dick, of Biloxi, Miss.; son, Tommy Poindexter and wife, Patsy, of Mangham; daughter Ida Gilley of Mangham; daughter Lila Walimaa of West Monroe; daughter Ann Kitchens and husband, Marvin, of West Monroe; daughter, Doris Cox and husband, Tommy, of Mangham; daughter-in-law, Sue Poindexter, of Mangham; and 18 grandchildren, many of whom have children and grandchildren of their own.
Pallbearers were grandsons, David Ezernack Sr., Danny Ezernack, Gary Gilley, Kurt Buelow, Jeff Mercer and Jimmy Poindexter. Honorary pallbearers were grandson, Steve Poindexter, great-grandsons and Dr. Ron Morgan.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Brother Benny Jones and Brother John Jones officiating. Interment was in Lynn Cemetery in Archibald.

Morris Howard Douglas
Morris Howard "Moose" Douglas passed away at the age of 67 on Feb. 20, 2009, after a two-year battle with cancer.
A memorial service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at North Monroe Baptist Church, with Pastor Bill Dye, Rev. Chris Witt, Rev. Jimmy Brent and Rev. Dallas Witt officiating. Interment was at Morehouse Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Thomas Douglas of Jonesboro; father, Baskin Culpepper Douglas of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two brothers, David and Wallace Lee Douglas.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Lois "Dinky" McGough Douglas; two sons, Dowd and wife, Elizabeth, of Lake Charles, and Drew and wife, Mona, of Tyler, Texas; daughter, Dusti Douglas Brodie of Monroe; three grandchildren, Kara Brodie of Monroe, Dawson and Delaney Douglas of Tyler, Texas; step-grandson, Andrew Strong of Lake Charles; sister, Jan Ree and husband, Billy, Burson of Ridgecrest, Calif.; nieces and nephews in California; Alice and Jim Brent, Mary and Robert McGough, Margaret and Robert Ziegler, Betty and Charlie Lee King, Gail and Charles McGough, Jeannie and Chris Witt, David McGough, Margie Dean McGough Bruce; and 23 nieces, nephews and their families.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were nephews: Tim Brent, Greg Green, Clay King, Rock King, Chuck McGough, John McGough, Keith McGough, Larry McGough, Jessie Witt, Allen Ziegler, Mark Ziegler, Michael Ziegler and Rodney Ziegler.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation League of Monroe, North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund, or Morehouse Challenge Drug Rehabilitation of Bastrop.

Robert David Dupree
Funeral services for Mr. Robert David Dupree, 54 of Eros, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Barry Blanton officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.
He passed away Feb. 18, 2009 in Eros.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Beninati Dupree; brothers, William Dupree, Rick Burns, and Jim Armstrong; sister, Kathy Hollis and husband, Dennis; uncles, Robert Dupree and wife, Delilah, William Dupree Sr., and wife, Joyce, Claude Dupree and Dick Dupree and wife, Beverly; nieces, Melody Lovelady and Amanda White; and a nephew, William Dupree.
Pallbearers were Steve Howard, John Meeks, Ronnie Mullins, Bo Coates, Darrell Knighten and Ronnie McDanell.

Mary Helen Freeman
Funeral services for Mary Helen Freeman, 68, of West Monroe, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Ridge Avenue Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Survivors include her children, Robbie Freeman and wife, Vickie, John David Freeman and wife, Melinda, and Amy C. Munholland; grandchildren, Allison, Paige, Hannah, Alyssa, Grant, Tyler and Ellie; and numerous friends.
Pallbearers were Todd Washer, Brian Tarver, Cliff Tarver, Jamie Wilhite, Johnny Pace and Frank Saunders. Honorary pallbearer was Ken Griswold.
Memorials may be made to the Ridge Avenue Baptist Church or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.

Exell L. Gewin
Funeral services for Mr. Exell L. Gewin, 84, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Danny McIlveene and Robert Lindsay officiating. Interment was in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Gewin; two daughters, Barbara Gewin of West Monroe and Janis Gewin Richardson and husband, Charles, of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Adam Richardson and wife, Amanda, of West Monroe and Sarah Rulau and husband, Lance, of Shreveport; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Ezell Grayson of Monroe.
Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Sunday School Class at Community Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church Building Fund.

Bertie Ann Cash Hibbard
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertie Ann Cash Hibbard, 71, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at West Monroe First Assembly of God Church. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lee and Ella Moses Cash; her father-in-law, Bouregard Hibbard; her mother-in-law, Ruby Hibbard; and her sister-in-law, Mona Beebe.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jerry S. Hibbard Sr.; son, Jerry S. Hibbard Jr., and his wife, Mandy, of Oak Grove; granddaughters, Mandy Spencer and husband, Jerry, of Mangham, Jackie Cooper and husband, Billy, Bonnie Allbritton, and husband, Jamie, and Lindsey Hibbard, all of West Monroe; grandsons, Tucker and Sawyer Hibbard of Oak Grove; great-grandchildren, Trey and Danielle Spencer, of Mangham, as well as Kennedy and Jackson Cooper and Jaycee and Abigaile Allbritton, all of West Monroe; brother, Larry Cash Sr. and wife, Sandra, of West Monroe; and countless other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Hart, Brian Allen, Roy Wiggins, Sr., Donnie Kerr, Darryl Minter and Ranzie Douthit.

June Spurgeon Jones
Graveside Services for Mrs. June Spurgeon Jones, 84, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, with Fr. Frank Coens officiating.
Mrs. Jones passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of West Monroe.
June was preceded in death by her Australian parents and two sisters; as well as husbands, Charles H. Spurgeon Jr. and Orin C. Jones.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Driscoll of Australia; a daughter, Anne Sanders and husband, Jerry, of West Monroe; a son, John Spurgeon and wife, Debra, of Bella Vista, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Ronald McDonald House.

Kimberly Ann Mallard
Funeral services for Mrs. Kimberly Ann Mallard, 50, of Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Covenant Church with Rev. Bob Clanton officiating. Interment was in Bartholomew Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
She passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Mallard; daughter, Felecia Weeks and husband, Stephen; son, Bill Mallard; two grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Weeks; mother, Mary Sanders; sisters, Amy Allen and husband, David, and Vickie Gregory and husband, Cliff; brother, Rod Sanders and wife, Vickie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa Catherine Clark Marsala
Funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Catherine Clark Marsala, 56, of Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Earl Clark Sr., her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josephine and Charles Marsala Sr.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Tommy Marsala; her four children and their families: Tommy Marsala Jr. and wife, Kym, Leslie Trahan and husband, Andy, Robert Marsala and Catherine Marsala, all of Monroe; her four cherished grandchildren, Thomas and Julie Marsala, and Marsala and Andrew Trahan; her mother, Mary Clark; siblings, Robert Earl Clark Jr. and wife, Veronica, of Illinois, James Richard Clark and wife, Linda, of Tennessee, Debbie Clark Gilbert of Monroe, and Donald Lee Clark and wife, Linda, of Downsville; and numerous relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Damon Marsala, Justin Kittrell, Matthew Long, Michael Motsinger, Robert Clark III, and David Gilbert.
The family requests memorials to be made to the Cancer Foundation League and the American Heart Association.

Sandra C. McCarty
Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra C. McCarty, 63, of Monroe were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Tommy Frost officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. She went to her eternal peace on Feb. 20, 2009.
Survivors include her husband, Benny McCarty; daughters, Kim Johnson and Pam McCarty; grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Lauren Johnson and Chloe McCarty; mother, Mary Cloninger; brother, Darence Cloninger; numerous relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Olin Hall, Darrell Washam, Jim McCarty, Scott Cloninger, Mark Cloninger and Perry Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Bishop and Fred Spatafora.

J.B. McGee
Funeral Services for Mr. J.B. "Burt" McGee, 89, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe with Revs. Charles Dupree, Jim Wolfe and Bruce McGee officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. He passed away on Feb. 26, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy Johnson McGee and Lorece Mock McGee.
Survivors include his four children, Bruce McGee and wife, Ann, of Columbia, Sandy McGee of West Monroe, Kathy Wolfe and husband, Jim, of Dallas, Texas, and Phyllis Freeman and husband, Mike, of Ruston; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
His grandsons served as pallbearers, Bobby McGee, Terry Wolfe, Adam Wolfe, Jimmy Wolfe, Joe Wolfe and Tony Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers were Irving Sills and Mike McGee.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons or to the American Cancer Society.

Rayford W. Miller Sr.
Funeral services for Rayford W. Miller Sr., 63, of West Monroe, were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Dan McClure officiating. Interment was at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe. Mr. Miller passed away Feb. 19, in West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his great grandson, Ryan Quinlan.
Survivors include his five children, April Reidl and husband, Ricky, Rayford "Bubba" Miller Jr. and wife, Angela, Michelle "Littlebit" Givens and husband, Kevin, Dawn "Tootsie" Uehling and husband, Shane, Edward "Eddie" Miller and wife, Cheryl; two brothers, George L. Miller and Charles T. Miller; four sisters, Donna Hopkins, Mavis Davis, Virginia Oxley and Jean Pickett; 17 grandchildren, Katelynn Jones, Lindsay Reidl, Mary Reidl, Scarlett Reidl, Gracie Reidl, Matthew Reidl, Amanda Blake, Jacob Miller, Brandon Miller, Dustin Miller, Jessica Uehling, Christopher Uehling, Brittany Quinlan, Jessica Colburn, Jake Colburn, Diana Colburn and Marissa Miller; two great-grandchildren, Oliva Grace Weinschel and Mallie Rayne Bearden.
Pallbearers were Christopher Uehling, Timmy Miller, Jason Banks, Nathan Hopkins, Michael J. Willis and Jay Trisler.

Rev. T.E. Miller
Funeral services for Rev. T.E. Miller 96, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe with Rev. Dennis Anger officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe.
Rev. Miller passed away Feb. 14, in West Monroe.
Survivors include two sons; David E. Miller of Jasper, Texas, and Thomas E. Miller of West Monroe; a brother, Charles M. Miller of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Loyal Miller, Nate Miller, Scott Miller, Brandon Miller, Tim Meredith and Joe Brendle. Honorary pallbearers were Cpl. Reed Rogers and Ralph Reed.

Billy Eugene Nubles II
Funeral services for Billy Eugene (B.J.) Nubles II, 23, of Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
He passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at St. Francis North Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy Raymond Nubles; aunt, Danielle Summerhill; and uncle, Bugger Alderman.
Survivors include his father, Billy E. Nubles; mother, Lynda Alderman; sister, Kathryn Diane Nubles; half sister, Baylie Whitaker; grandmother, Jerry Nubles Smith and step grandfather, Richard Smith; grandmother, Ramona Welch; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Raymond Nubles, Brinkley Thomas, Tommy Auston, Brenden Lee, Jonathon Forwood and Chris Duncan.

James N. Peavy
Funeral services for Mr. James N. Peavy, 34, of Sterlington, were at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Mablewood Baptist Church in Bastrop. Interment followed in the church cemetery. He passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Peavy.
Survivors include his parents, Delores and Narvel Lightsey; two brothers, Wayne Peavy of Monroe and Scotty Peavy of Sterlington; three sisters, Sharon Mullins of Crowville, Angela Hadley of Marion, and Shelley Pierce of Sterlington; one son, Gabriel Peavy of West Monroe; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Clara H. Poole
Mrs. Clara H. Poole, 87, of West Monroe, passed away at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Pitson officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Poole passed away Friday, Feb. 20, at Landmark Nursing Home.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Poole; children, Patricia Ann Vicker, Danny Ray Mills, and Harold Leon Poole Jr.; two brothers, Richard Herring and Floyd Herring Jr.; two sisters, Ruthie Lapradd and Betty Guidry; 14 grandchildren; and a number of great and great-great grandchildren.

Mary Roth Rymer
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Roth (Betty) Rymer, 85, of Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bruce Rux officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Rymer died Friday at St. Francis Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Rymer.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Shurley and husband, Jim, of Monroe; grandson, Will Shurley and wife, Anna Kate, of Titusville, N.J.
Pallbearers were Richard Norris, Jerry Mott, Bill Wilson, Joe Holyfield, Jack Davis and Johnny Albright.
Memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Dalton Travis Stansbury
Funeral services for Dalton Travis Stansbury, 72, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Philip Bedenbender officiating. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joy Davis Stansbury of West Monroe; daughter, Terry LaForge and husband, Robin; son, Jerry Ray Stansbury and wife, Sandy, and daughter, Sherry Tyeece Hendrix, all of West Monroe; granddaughters, Jennifer Stephenson and husband Brandon of Tallahassee, Fla.; Megan Gendron and husband, Joe, of Baton Rouge; Lenee Moore of West Monroe; Jessi Stansbury of West Monroe; great-granddaughter Brittany Stephenson of Tallahassee, Fla., and great-grandson Austin Moore of West Monroe; two sisters, Dorline Cole and Peggy Ginn, both of Farmerville; brother, Albert Stansbury Jr. of West Monroe; special friend, Lynn Driggers; and dog, Jack.
Pallbearers were Joe Gendron, Brandon Stephenson, Bruce Davis, Mike Tedeton, Bobby Graves and Levi Chavis.

Earl Sturdivant
Funeral services for Rev. Earl Sturdivant, 86, of West Monroe, were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Cecil Harrington officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Sturdivant passed away at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Adelaide McQuiller Sturdivant; son, Jackie Earl Sturdivant; parents, Thomas A. and Sallie Sturdivant; brothers, Oliver, Ellie, Odie, Aubrey, and Edd Sturdivant; and his sisters, Ivy Hubbert and Grace Roberts.
Survivors include his sons, Paul Sturdivant, Ricky Sturdivant and wife, Renee, all of West Monroe, and Jamie Sturdivant and wife, LaVonne, of Georgia; daughter, Lori Taylor of Florida; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
