BATON ROUGE -- Catcher Sean Ochinko had three hits and a career-best four RBI and No.1 LSU collected 15 hits to top UCF 11-2 on a cold, windy Saturday afternoon in Alex Box Stadium.

The Tigers (6-0) clinched their sixth straight regular season weekend series dating back to last season. The Tigers have won 22 straight regular season games, dating back to last season. LSU will go for the sweep Sunday against UCF (2-4) at 1 p.m.

"The kids made great adjustments," head coach Paul Mainieri said. "It was very cold and windy out there today, but the guys made the adjustments they needed to make at the plate and it's hard not to be pleased with the offensive outcome today."

LSU erupted for a six-run fifth inning beginning when Blake Dean, who finished 3-for-4, singled through the right side to bring home Ryan Schimpf, who reached on a walk then stole second. The next batter, shortstop DJ LeMahieu, doubled to right to advance Dean to third. LeMahieu also finished 3-for-4.

Freshman first baseman Grant Dozar got his first collegiate hit and RBI when he singled home Dean to put the Tigers up 4-1. LeMahieu advanced to third and Dozar went to second on the throw to third.

The next batter, Ochinko, singled to bring home LeMahieu and Dozar to put the Tigers up 6-1. The Tigers loaded the bases after Chad Jones singled and Derek Helenihi walked. The next batter, Mitchell, doubled down the right-field line to score Ochinko and Jones making the score 8-1 in favor of LSU.

Freshman right-hander Matty Ott (1-0) got the win for the Tigers allowing one run on three hits while walking none and striking out three in 2.1 innings.

LSU got the scoring started in the first inning when Dean singled through the right side to score Jared Mitchell, who led off the inning with a walk, to put the Tigers ahead 1-0.

In the third inning, Landry walked and scored on an infield single by LeMahieu to increase the LSU lead to 2-0.

UCF cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fourth inning when Brandon Romans hit a solo homer off LSU starter Daniel Bradshaw.

Bradshaw left the game in the fourth inning after allowing one run on five hits while walking two and striking out three in 3.2 innings.

The Knights responded to LSU's six-run fifth in the sixth inning with a Chadd Hartman triple followed by a Nick Choto single to make the score 8-2.

The scoring continued for LSU in the sixth inning when Dean walked to lead off the inning, followed by a LeMahieu single, advancing Dean to third. LeMahieu stole second before Ochinko singled to left, scoring Dean and LeMahieu. Ochinko's four RBI in the game is a new career high.

Ochinko is now 7-for-8 in the series against UCF with seven RBI.

"What more can you say about Sean Ochinko?" Mainieri said. "He's become an RBI machine for us and came through with a couple of really clutch hits today."

Freshman Austin Nola pinch hit for LeMahieu in the seventh and singled home Schimpf to make the score 11-2. It was Nola's first collegiate RBI.

Another freshman contributing for the Tigers on Saturday was right-hander Shane Riedie, who got the save for the Tigers allowing no runs on one hit while striking out four in three innings of relief.
