Six players on the ULM softball team travel home to the Lone Star State when the squad makes a trip to Austin, Texas, to play in a doubleheader at national-power Texas today, Feb. 26, starting at 5 p.m.

The team then travels to Waco, Texas, to play in the QTI Invitational hosted by 24th-ranked Baylor starting on Friday at 10 a.m.

ULM (5-9) will begin the weekend with its first ever matchups against Texas (11-4). Alexis Bennett is leading a potent Longhorns offense with a .406 batting average to go along with her two home runs and five RBI.

The Warhawks will take on Louisiana Tech (6-5) in their first game of the tournament before playing the tournament-host Baylor (12-3) at approximately 3 p.m. on Friday. Saturday features another 10 a.m. matchup with Louisiana Tech before ULM takes on Rutgers (1-3) in the afternoon. A Sunday matchup with Baylor will wrap up the weekend for the Warhawks.

ULM comes into the weekend after posting a 2-2 record at the Tulsa Select Festival last weekend. Brianna Love got her bat going in Tulsa, hitting 5-for-11 and scoring three runs with a .538 on-base percentage. She was also successful on her only stolen base attempt.

Kandace Causey was equally impressive in the circle, posting a 1-1 record with an ERA of 1.80 as she struck out 20 batters in two starts. Jessica Chastka picked up her second win of the season with a complete-game performance against South Dakota State and recorded her first-career save against Creighton.

This weekend will be the final tune-up for the Warhawks before they get into Sun Belt Conference play, starting with a three-game series at North Texas on March 7.
