Janie Elizabeth Aday
Graveside services for Miss Janie E. Aday, 77, of West Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Art Beebe officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Mahaily Aday; three brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, James "Jim" Rabb.
Survivors include her children, Lillie Rabb of West Monroe, Jimmy Duke and wife, Paula, of Eros, Betty Mitchell of West Monroe, Sammy Duke and partner, Ron Hulbert, of Hiawassee, Ga., and Joyce Broom and husband, Gene, of West Monroe; nine granddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Aday of Turkey Creek; numerous nieces and nephews; and a life-long friend, Roy Boyd of West Monroe.

Joy J. Cochran
Funeral services for Mrs. Joy J. Cochran, 83, of West Monroe and formerly of Kilbourne, were at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating. Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. at Kilbourne Cemetery, in Kilbourne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Cochran; parents, John and Bessie Ables; three brothers, Cecil Ables, Robert Ables and Archie Ables; and one half sister, Louise Bass.
Survivors include her children, Susan Hayes and husband, Leonard, of West Monroe, Marcia Gunter and husband, Rickey, of West Monroe, Gary Cochran and wife, Vickie, of Oak Grove, and Linda Anderson and husband, Jerry, of Monroe; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister in-law, Catherine Ables; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were grandsons, J.J. Cochran, Rickey Lynn Gunter Jr., Eric Gunter, Michael Anderson, Randall Odaware and Ryan Hayes. Honorary pallbearer was Brian Cochran.
Memorials may be made to the Community Baptist Church Building Fund.

Michael Everett Cotney
Mr. Michael Cotney, 46, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in Monroe.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe with Rev. Carl Shurte officiating. Arrangements were by Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Huey Everett Cotney.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce; daughter, Katherine Jean Cotney; brother, Stanley Cotney; sisters, Lititia Wheeler and husband, Billy, Mary Morris and husband, Bobby; three grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

Creola Eldridge
Mrs. Creola Eldridge, 75, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at LSU Medical Center.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Interment was in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her sister, Jerry Eubanks of Monroe; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to New Light Baptist Church.

Arden O. French Jr.
Arden O. French, Jr., 74, of Monroe, died on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe with Rev. Gregg Riley officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Cemetery in Calhoun under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dean Arden O. French and Roberta Grigsby French.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Cathi Harris French; brother, David Lon French and wife, Olive; sons, David Marshall French and wife, Elizabeth, and Robert L. French and wife, Lori; daughters, Sarah Elizabeth French, and Ginger French Shemwell and husband, Clay; beloved grandchildren, David Morgan French and wife, Natalie, Kelly Elizabeth French, Virginia Blair Shemwell, Harris Edward French and Charlie Elizabeth French.
Pallbearers were Stephen Haedicke, Jerry Barnes, Scott Hill, David French, Bob French, Morgan French and Clay Shemwell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the A.O. French Academy for Leadership Studies, LSU Foundation, Lod Cook Center, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA 70803.

Ernest Goleman
Funeral services for Mr. Ernest "Sonny" Goleman, 67, of Monroe, were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Minister Raymond Doolittle and Flint Smith officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Peggy Byrd of Sulphur, Brenda Coker and husband, David, of Natchitoches, Ernest W. Goleman Jr. and wife, Terri, of Ville Platte, and Chad Goleman of Eros; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Tommy Goleman and wife, Barbara, of West Monroe; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Guinn Blake.
Pallbearers were Vernon McMillon, Aaron Cash, Joe Pillgreen, Bill Goleman, Tony Gandy, Joshua Goleman, Caleb Smith and Ricky Hixson.

Mike Inzina
Mike Inzina, 85, of Monroe, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center after a brief illness.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Joseph Puthuppally and Msgr. Edmund Moore officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Scimbra Inzina, originally from Palermo, Italy; brothers, Philip, Sam, Nick, Joe Jr., Carl, and Tony Inzina; and sisters, Josephine Inzina Lisotta, Mary Inzina Da, and Anne Inzina.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Jo Inzina; daughter, Mimi Inzina; one brother, John Inzina and wife, Rose; two sisters, Loretta Inzina and Madeline Inzina; sister-in-law, Norma "Jeanie" Wingate; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special niece, Rose Mary Lisotta; and special nephew, Luke Lisotta.
Pallbearers were Judge Jim Dimos, Jarvis Renfrow, Monte McGough, Joey Feltri, Joe Day and Pete Embanato. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Monroe Fire Department.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church Community Center.

Eullis H. Johnson Jr.
Mr. Eullis H. Johnson, Sr., 87, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating. Interment was in Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Johnson and Fannie Nolan Johnson and a daughter, Deborah Lazarus.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Johnson; son, Eullis Johnson Jr. and wife, Opal, of Rocky Branch; daughters, Gloria Jean Kappler and husband, Frank, and Virginia Dale Johnson of Vicksburg, Miss., Kemmerly Ferrelli and husband, Steve, of West Monroe, Becky Pevytoe of West Monroe; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Bruce Alan Keen
Funeral services for Mr. Bruce Alan Keen, 51, of West Monroe, were at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at White's Ferry Road Church of Christ with Mike Kellett and Leonard Rhodes officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Keen, and father-in-law, James C. Nerren Sr.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Zalenda Rene Keen; daughters, Natalie Dawn Keen and Hannah Margaret Keen; son, Jason Alan Keen; mother, Barbara Keen; three sisters, Kathy Azlin, Susan Kellett and husband, Mike, and Dianne Jones and husband, Michael; mother-in-law, Verna Neva Nerren; and numerous friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Tony Neal, David Fox, David Townsend, Barry Chappell, Paul Chappell and Ronnie Hayes.

James P. Kiper
Mr. James P. Kiper, 85, of West Monroe, died on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Michi Head officiating. Interment was in New Winnsboro Cemetery in Winnsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. Kiper Sr. and O'lena Allums Kiper.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Millicent Ledbetter Kiper; sons, Kim Kiper and Glynn P. Kiper and wife, Mendy; and granddaughter, Melissa Kiper.
Pallbearers were Jerry Callender, Percy Ford Jr., Buddy Griggs, Billy Hulsey, Jimmy McLemore and Bruce Seebers. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Daniels and Paul Trichel.
Memorials may be made to the McGuire United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the charity of one's choice.

Nona Mae Bankston Loftin
Nona Mae B. Loftin, 77, of Monroe, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2009.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Loftin; parents, Burton and Georgie Bankston; sister, Nedra Boeneke; and brothers, Kermit and Curtis Bankston.
Survivors include her son, Lawrence Laney Loftin of Monroe; daughter, Linda Kelly and husband, Larry, of Monroe; grandsons, Ian Loftin of Shreveport and his mother, Judy Chandler, of Shreveport, Steve Prine and wife, Amy, of Monroe; great-granddaughter, Hannah Prine of Monroe; special friend and companion, Liz Henry and her son, Stephen; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Bill Boeneke, Steve Prine, Ian Loftin, Charlie Hardin, Jason Thackery, Tommy Minor and Al Drummond. Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Daniels, Johnny Woodard, Jimmy Jones and David Marine.

Vera B. McCarty
Mrs. Vera B. McCarty, 54, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Dennis Anger officiating. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ida Broom.
Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer McCarty and Marissa McCarty; sister, Lorita Gilmore; grandchildren, Jacob Weaver, Jackson Weaver and Jailey Weaver; nieces and nephews, Missy Beavers, Kody Beavers, MaKayla Beavers, Randy Gilmore, Danielle McCarty, Macy Gilmore and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Darrell Patten, Gerald Byrd, Nate Jones, Kody Beavers, Ryan Norris, Randy Gilmore and Blue Beavers. Honorary pallbearer was Wendell Fordham.

Charles Stanley Passman
Mr. Charles Stanley Passman, 84, of Monroe, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his two daughters, Susan Biggers and husband, Robert, and Polly Bryant and husband, Jim; one son, Stan Passman Jr. and wife, Robin; nine grandchildren, Ben and Molly Lyons, Hannah and Holly Harrington, Cody and Beau Passman, Ashley Reed and husband Rodney, and Andy and Alison Bryant; one great-granddaughter, Ella Kate Passman; and three cousins.
Pallbearers were Ben Lyons, Cody Passman, Beau Passman, Andy Bryant, Robert Biggers, and Jim Bryant. Honorary pallbearers were the 18th Street McDonald's Gang.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, or North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund.

Frank H. Pettit III
Mr. Frank "Bubba" H. Pettit III, 78, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Pastor Shane Creech officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his son, Frank Pettit; granddaughter, Carolyn Windham; brothers, Fred Pettit and Paul Pettit.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Pettit; son, Richard Pettit of Denham Springs; daughters, Patricia Creighton of Monroe and Joan Adams of Downsville; son-in-law, Layne Adams of Downsville; daughter-in-law, Shani Pettit; grandsons, Walter "Deuce" Windham II, Brenton Creighton, Forrest Adams and Tristan Kidder; granddaughters, Anastasia Adams, Evelyn Adams, Bradli Nelson and Alyssa Nelson; sister, Betty Cannon of Monroe; brother, Jim Pettit and wife, Sue, of Crossett, Ark.; special sister-in-law, Shirley Pettit of Montgomery, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers were Layne Adams, Lance LeButt, Walter "Deuce" Windham II, Brenton Creighton, Kenneth Geter and Jerry Geter. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Woodard, Tom King, J.C. Nolan and Dr. Ran Phillips.

Aubrey Lee Sims
Aubrey Sims, 68, of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in Calhoun.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Bobby Porter officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Laverne Sims; father, Alfred Joe "A.J." Sims; daughters, Renee Meche and Brandy Sims; son, Steven Sims; and a sister, Sharon Davenport.
Survivors include his mother, Maxine Sims; brothers, David Sims, Steve Sims and Johnny Sims; grandson, John David Trahan; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Pallbearers were Brett Sims, David Wayne Sims, Wayne Farmer, Darren Sims and John Derek Sims and Jeb Slade.
Honorary pallbearer was Derek Deblieux.

Harold Ray Roberts
Mr. Harold Ray Roberts, 78, of West Monroe, passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Oda W. "Tuck" Roberts officiating. Interment was at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by father and mother, Lula Brown and Lee Roberts, and half-brother, Gene Roberts.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Sharon Roberts of Eros; daughter, Laticia R. Davis of West Monroe; daughter, Kay Roberts of Caledonia, Miss.; daughter, Lesli Hudson of Arizona; daughter, Ashley Davis of Arizona; half-brother, Thomas L. Roberts of Rogers, Ark.; grandson, Brandon Roberts of Monroe; two granddaughters, Julie Ratcliff and husband, Jeff, of Allen, Texas, and Lindsay Murphy and husband, Andy, of Oxford, Miss.; one great-granddaughter, Reese McKensey Ratcliff of Allen, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Brandon Roberts, Kenneth Dickerson, Malcom Dickerson, Fred Glover, Andy Murphy, Jeff Ratcliff, Johnny Roberts and Gary Roberts.

Shirley L. Sims
Mrs. Shirley L. Sims, 70, of Calhoun, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, following a lengthy illness.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Souls Harbor United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Jimmy Masters officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Calhoun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T.F. and Hattie Minchey Doyle, three brothers, and six sisters.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, James "Jimmy" D. Sims; four sons, James "Peckles" Sims, Steven Ray Sims and wife, Kathy, Ronald Wayne Sims and wife, Rachel, and Larry Glen Sims; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olga Hall and Billie Hall, both of Vernon, Texas; a special niece, Linda Joyce Martin of Vernon, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Wesley, Wayne, Matthew, Rodney, Randy, Gary, Terry Lynn and Timmy Sims.

Virgil Horton Tyson
Mr. Virgil Horton Tyson, 75, of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. George Bonner officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Tyson and five brothers.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Tyson and wife, Angie; two brothers, Billy Tyson and Jerry Tyson and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Malynda Tyson and Masyn Tyson; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Apostolic Church Building Fund.

Tommy Walker
Mr. Tommy Walker, 59, of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at his residence.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Fair Park Baptist Church with Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughter, Lindsey Walker; two sons, Joshua and Michael Walker; sister, Dorothy Jean Fullerton; and brother, Kenneth Walker and wife, Shirley.
Pallbearers were Ron Nix, Darris Waren, Dwayne Yeager, Brian Ringo, Danny Williams, Steve Walker, Charles Johnson and Charles Heard. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Griswold and Bill Tucker.
Memorials may be made to the Fair Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
