James T. Jim Coats
Mr. James T. "Coach" Jim Coats, 85, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 after developing metastatic complications of melanoma skin cancer.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Robert Charles Payne and Coach Willie Reagan officiating. Coffee was served for family and friends at Lakeshore Baptist Church in the fellowship hall following the service. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby Evans Coats; three sons, Tommy Coats of Swartz, Joe Coats of Monroe, and Robert Coats and wife, Verna, of Newellton; daughter, Mary Coats Brown of Van Buren, Ark.; granddaughters, Gerri Coats Rankin of Alexandria, Amanda Brown Phillips and husband, Jamie, of Sherman, Texas, Ashley Brown Ellis and husband, Lee, of Moore, Okla.; grandson, Joey Hemphill and wife, Heather, of Georgetown, Texas; great-granddaughters, Taylar Rankin, Paige Phillips and Adrianna Hemphill; great-grandsons, Hunter, Trystan and Dawson Hemphill; one sister, Jean Fitzgerald of Shreveport; and brother-in-law, Warren Robbins of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orbin Collins and Tempie Demoss Coats of Delhi; sister, O.C. Robbins of Phoenix, Ariz.; and daughter-in-law, Debbie (Mrs. Tommy) Coats.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Reeves, R.F. Wilson, Johnny T. Johnson, Johnny Schmidt, Murray Biedenharn and Jerry Striplin.
Enola Calhoun Cook
Funeral services for Mrs. Enola Calhoun Cook, 94, of West Monroe, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 27, 2009, at Eva Church of God in Monterey with Rev. Glen Young officiating. Interment was at Jessie Beasley Cemetery. Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe handled arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred B. Cook.
Survivors include her sons, Fred B. Cook Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Mickey Cook and wife, Dee Dee, of West Monroe; six grandchildren, Trey Cook and wife, Patty, of Baton Rouge, Amiee Reeves and husband, Todd, of Birmingham, Ala., Julie Norris and husband, Chris, of West Monroe, Julie Cook of Houston, Texas, Ashley McDonald and husband, Tim, of San Antonio, Texas, and Daniel Cook and wife, Rachel, of Flower Mound, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marjorie Sturgeon and Frances Beane.

Mary Lee Bond Diffey
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lee Bond Diffey, 86, of West Monroe, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Jeff Luellen officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Elbert Lee Diffey; three brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her son, Acil Jerry Diffey; three daughters, Loretta Owens, Jean Bracey and Suzanne Stuckey; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles O. Bond; sister, Verna L. Brickey; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were family members, DeWayne Bracey, Gary Owens, Russell Allen Bracey, Bobby Matlock, Roy Walton and Eric Diffey. Honorary pallbearers were Huey Diffey and Dylan Matlock.
Bruce E. Douglas
Mr. Bruce E. Douglas, 57, of West Monroe, and formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009.
His funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Jeff Luellen officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Douglas; children, Michelle Douglas, Tammy Stimpson of Gillette, Wyo., and Crystal Marlin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jacob Marlin, Joseph Marlin and Rebecca Edwards; brothers, Mark Douglas and wife, Lori, Gregory Douglas and wife, Lisa, and Michael Douglas and wife, Frieda; sister, Margaret McDade and husband, Larry, of Graham, N.C.; nephews, Nicholas, Justin and Kenneth Douglas; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jerry H. Emory, 72, of West Monroe, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Revs. Jerry Salisbury and Marshall Douglas officiating. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. and Ruby Emory and his father and mother in-law, Oliver O. and Louise Cloyd.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara; children, Terry Lenard and husband, Keith, Rhonda Smith and husband, Tim, Jay Emory and wife, Cammie, Patsy Hutto and husband, Luther, and Janice Emory; grandchildren, Renee Smith, David Smith, Jerryd Emory, Brian Smith, Olivia Cage, Shawna McManus, Scott Cage, Whitson Emory, Robert Emory and Joslee "Josie" Emory; brother, Edwin Emory and wife, Norma; sister, Patsy Banks and husband, Billy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Natalie Barker Fuller
Mrs. Natalie Barker Fuller, 86, of West Monroe, passed into the life everlasting on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Larry Stafford officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Fuller of West Monroe; her parents, Earl R. and Mae Boddie Barker of Ruston; and her sisters, Eloise Savannah of Monroe, Pauline Willis of Ruston and Irene Willis Bryan of Ruston.
Survivors include her sisters, Margie Williams of Ruston and Jeanette Alexander Howell of Ruston; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. James L. Harrison, 65, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at St. Francis North in Monroe.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. David Willoughby officiating. Interment was at Rayville Masonic Cemetery in Rayville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Margaret Hensley, Edith Gay, and Frances Barnes; and one brother, Delbert Harrison Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Gwendolyn Greer Harrison; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Stephanie Harrison of Nashville, Ark., and Jesse and Angela Harrison of Monroe; one brother, Billy Ralph Harrison and wife, Danora, of Gardendale, Texas; three sisters, Faye Echlin and husband, Larry, of Star City, Ark., Sue Barnes and husband Bob of Russellville, Ark., and Shirley Makovec of Star City, Ark.; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Greer and wife, Linda, of West Monroe; one sister-in-law, Nancy Harrison of Carl Junction, Mo.; four grandchildren, Alyssa and Andrew Harrison of Nashville, Ark., and Emma and Joshua Harrison of Monroe.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sarah Hendricks; sons, David Hendricks, Jeff Hendricks and wife, Sara, and Mark Hendricks and wife, Debra; grandchildren, Lance Hendricks and wife, Paige, Beth Hendricks, Kevin Hendricks, Matthew Hendricks, Katie Hendricks, Amy Hendricks and Wayne Hendricks; and one great-grandchild, Major Hendricks.

Mrs. Alma Jearline "Jerry" Kirkham, 70, of Calhoun, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Bro. George Bonner officiating. Interment was at Campground Cemetery in Bienville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Joe Kirkham.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene Donaldson, Joseph C Donaldson and John R. Mahaffey; three daughters, Sherry Camp and husband, John, Dianna Huffty and husband, Shannon, and Karen Moorhead and husband, Jamie; grandchildren, Kristy Hayden, William H. Turnbow III, Carra Donaldson, Jessica Whitlock, Harlie Whitlock and Thatcher Moorhead; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Gilbert M. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Colleen M. Vines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, McDonald Wilkerson; parents, William and Lois McIntosh; brother, William Leon McIntosh Jr.; sisters, Carrimena McIntosh DuCote, Lois McIntosh Dunlap and Sue McIntosh Willis.

Mr. Adriel D. Wright, 82, of West Monroe, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at Ridgecrest Nursing Home in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Ellisville Cemetery in Ellisville, Miss. A vigil wake service was at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, with Father Frank Coens officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Jarvis Wright; parents, Jewel and Dollie Wright; son, Roger Wright; brother, Alton Wright and wife, Carolyn Spillers Wright; and sister, Opal Neighbors Dimitry.
