Much on line as Neville hosts Carroll

The Neville Tigers will host Carroll this Friday night in one of the must-see area matchups this weekend.

Neville is coming off a hard-fought victory over local squad West Ouachita in a 53-29 victory for the Tigers Tuesday night.

Artez Bynum scored a game-high 16 points for the Tigers. Bynum has consistently been the go-to scorer in double-figures most nights for Neville.

DeLarrious Jones scored 12 points while Thomas Austin had his coming-out party with 10 points added to the Neville total.

Neville again used their size and depth advantage to pressure West Ouachita into early foul trouble.

Neville (11-13, 3-0) jumped out to an early 10-point advantage and kept the pressure on the young Chiefs under first-year head coach Josh Brown.

Andrew Harris and Antoine Ford each chipped in nine points to lead the Chiefs (9-17, 0-4).

Neville is riding a big high right now after beginning district play undefeated. The Carroll game will go a long way toward determining a district champion.

Carroll won the district last year but Neville currently leads Franklin Parish and Carroll by one game each heading into Friday night.

"If we can limit our turnovers and handle their pressure," Neville head coach Phillip Craig said. "I like the way our team is playing right now."

Xavier Lee is averaging double-figures for Carroll and is a key to the current success of the Bulldogs.

The Neville Lady Tigers also picked up a win at West Ouachita as they smothered the Lady Chiefs 54-33.

Neville (13-12, 3-1) will go into the game looking to tie Carroll Lady Bulldogs for the district lead.

Carroll is off to one of their best starts in school history at 21-1. The Bulldogs began an eight-game win streak over a month ago and has not looked back since.

They beat Neville 74-45 in the previous meeting two weeks ago. Carroll is looking to take back the district crown from the Lady Tigers once again in this heated rivalry.
