Richwood looks to stay on top

The district 1-3A race is heating up and local teams are in the thick of things heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

District-leader Richwood (14-9, 5-0) defeated the Rayville Hornets 60-55 on Tuesday night.

Rydell Harris, a Grambling State commitment, led the Rams with a game-high 14 points. Marcies Davis was not far behind with 10 points.

The Rams will host Madison Parish (19-7, 4-1) this Friday in a game that in years past has been a district championship contest.

Madison is also in contention as they prepare to tackle the Rams at "The Wood Shed."

Keldric Martin, the son of Richwood head coach Terry Martin, has also risen to the occasion and has paced the Rams with great defensive effort as well as a threat from the outside.

The Lady Rams will host Madison in a contest that has picked up intensity with each passing year.

The Richwood Lady Rams are currently striving to climb back into the district championship race after falling to Rayville on Tuesday 68-58.

Richwood is 2-3 in district play and needs a home win over Madison to even their record with just a few games left before playoff seeding is made official.
