Herb Weaver plans gallery talk The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is showing a ceramic sculpture exhibition by guest artist Herb Weaver through Thursday, Feb. 5.
Weaver, a professor of art from Bethany College, W. Va., will also conduct a Gallery Talk on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Bry Art Gallery.
According to Weaver, "By taking elements or pieces of everyday life and twisting or altering them in a whimsical fashion, I intend for my work to be a welcome relief from reality. Often the juxtaposition of two or more relatively familiar objects can create unique relationships, coaxing the eye and mind to unfold all the possible riddles that lie in the artwork. Important in this concept is the injection of the pun. Humor plays an important role in my art.
"Because I am trying to communicate various ideas, it is important to me what the viewer feels and thinks about each artwork."
The Bry Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. - noon on Fridays.
