The faculty of Good Hope Middle School in West Monroe announces the January Teacher of the Month, Carla Austin.

She has spent all four years of her teaching career at Good Hope. Austin teaches sixth- and seventh- grade math.

Along with her classroom responsibilities, she has been the GHMS cheerleader sponsor for two years.

When she is not teaching, she participates in numerous outside activities. She enjoys running, biking, and playing tennis. Also, she is a member of the Ouachita Valley Road Runners' Club and Kappa Delta Sorority. She and her husband are members of North Monroe Baptist Church.

Austin will receive numerous gifts to honor her, including a gift card to her favorite restaurant, a Smoothie King coupon, a duty-free lunch, a recognition certificate, and a parking space for the month.
