Wossman runs over Neville

The Wossman Wildcats started slow but finished strong in a 62-50 victory over the Neville Tigers on Tuesday night.

Martez Sellars scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Wilcats to the victory over their parish rivals.

"They beat us on the boards," Neville head coach Phillip Craig said. "We played pretty well defensively but not as good down the stretch."

Neville went toe-to-toe with the defending state champions of Class 3A as Sellars kept hitting big shot after big shot.

Artez Bynum led the way for the Neville Tigers with 17 points while DeLarrius Jones chipped in 12 points.

The Wossman Lady Wildcats upended Carroll last time out on Friday. Wossman was scheduled to play Neville in girl's action Tuesday but a scheduling mix-up had Neville going to West Monroe and playing the Lady Rebels instead.

Wossman has used the extra time off to practice its ball control and defensive pressure which has gotten the team off to a great start at 10-4 on the season.

The Lady Wildcats have won four consecutive games, including three straight victories in last week's Sterlington tournament. Oak Grove, Lake Providence and Madison Parish all fell victim to Wossman in the Sterlington Shootout to close out 2008.

Wossman will play in the Richwood Classic Saturday in Girls action that will go on all day beginning in the morning Saturday.

The Wossman and Neville boy's teams will be participating in the Don Redden Memorial Classic at Ouachita Parish High School through Friday.

A championship bracket and consolation bracket will be played at Ouachita through Friday night. The championship game begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
