The City of Monroe Department of Public Works will accept live Christmas trees for recycling until Jan. 6.

Drop-off sites for used natural Christmas trees include:

1. The south parking area of the Monroe City Annex on Jackson Street (formerly Ford, Bacon & Davis);

2. The north side of the north parking area of the Monroe Civic Center (near the fence closest to the Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway); and,

3. The city right-of-way adjacent to the Wal-Mart parking lot next to Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers.

The trees will be turned into mulch, which will be available free for residents on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 209 South 12th St., between 1 a.m.-3 p.m.

In West Monroe, trees may be dropped off for recycling at the West Monroe Farmer's Market on North Seventh Street.

People are asked to assure all decorations, including icicles and garland are removed from the trees.
