Funeral services for Lois Marine Hendrix Beard, 94, of West Monroe, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe. Officiants were Revs. Rick McPhearson and Danny Chance. Interment followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrell P. Beard; daughter, Janice A. Beard; and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Katherine Beard McManus and husband, Donnie R., and their children, Randy McManus and wife, Beverly and children, Quincy and Lacy; Judy McManus Barnes and husband, Bobby and children, Courtney Silmon and fiancé, Jamie Parrott, and son, Ethan Parrott; and B.J. Barnes; and Michelle McManus Dycus and husband, Dub; son, Benny T. Beard and wife, Janice A., and their children, Rhonda Beard Walker and husband, Keith, and children, Garrett and Morgan; Prentice "Buster" L. Beard and daughter, Madi Beard; and Amanda K. Beard; brother, Albert "Buck" Hendrix; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dub Dycus, Buster Beard, Keith Walker, Danny Gaston, Bobby Barnes and Quincy McManus.
Margie Lee Martin Bond
Mrs. Margie Lee Martin Bond, 91, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Interment was at Carter Cemetery in Collinston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Bond Sr.

Bond and wife, Cynthia, of West Monroe, Jerry Bond and wife, Ruby, of West Monroe, Jessie Marion Bond of Swartz, Eddie L. Bond and wife, Kathy, of Swartz and Jimmy Kerrick and wife, Valarie, of Georgetown, Texas; sister, Maggie Slack of Bastrop, and Betty Houidobre of New Orleans; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Frances Speir Cole
Mrs. Frances Speir Cole, 84, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment was at Monroe Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wesley Ray Cole in April 2003.

Mr. John A. Douglas, 46, of West Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Jeff Luellen officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Douglas; two daughters, Mandy and Sara; one granddaughter, Riley; four brothers, Bruce Douglas and wife, Linda, Mark Douglas and wife, Lori, Gregory Douglas and wife, Lisa, all of West Monroe, and Michael Douglas and wife, Frieda, of Riverview, Fla.; niece, Michelle Douglas; nephew, Nicholas Douglas; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A.V. Frost
A.V. Frost, 85, of Sterlington, departed this earth on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, after a brief illness.
Survivors include his four children, Marcia Dudley, Charles Frost, James Frost and Ginger Wimberley; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Frost.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Mauldin, in 1997; and his parents, Fred Houston Frost and Dee King.
A memorial service has been planned for 2:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at the American Legion Hall. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, his family requests that donations be made to the Friends of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
Everett L. Gay
Mr. Everett L. Gay, 80, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at his residence.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Roger Stouffer officiating with assistance from Rev. Ronnie Wyrick. Entombment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Edith Marie Harrison Gay; parents, Henry B. Gay and wife, Eulla; three stepsisters; two brothers, H.B. Gay and Floyd Gay; one sister, Juanita Rich; brothers-in-law, Garvis Buchanan, Lunk Barnes, C.H. Hensley and Delbert Harrison; and sisters-in-law, Frances Barnes and Margaret Hensley.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his two sons, Jimmy Floyd Gay and wife, Elizabeth, of Monroe, and Billy Joe Gay of Redland, Calif.; one sister, Myrtle Marie Buchanan of Leonard, Texas; one brother, Gerald Gay of Forney, Texas; one granddaughter, Kristy Gay of San Bernardino, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Homer Brashear, John Brashear, J.L. Harrison, Billy Gay, Billy Gay Jr. and Joe Young. Honorary pallbearer was Steve Gay.
Orleane Redding Heacock
Mrs. Orleane "Sissy" Redding Heacock, 90, of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Todd Gregory officiating. Interment was at Twin Cities Memorial Garden Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Heacock; sons, Donald Heacock and Ricky Heacock; and daughter, Judy Ann Heacock.
Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Wellerman; son, Glen Heacock; nine grandchildren, Travis Heacock, Lynn Farr, Andrea Fowler, Michelle Heacock, Blake Wellerman, Danna Lett, Scott Wellerman, Rick Heacock and Aaron Heacock; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother.

Levi Andrew Jackson
Levi Andrew "Jack" Jackson, 73, of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, in Calhoun.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Brother Neil Everett officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waymon and Pearl Johnston; children Michael Johnston and Janet Johnston Easterling; grandson, Jason Easterling; and brothers, W.N., Sherman and Dalton Johnston.

Claude Simpson Mason
Mr. Claude Simpson Mason, 89, of West Monroe, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Danny McIlveene and Rev. Dale Jordan officiating. Interment was in Wilmot Cemetery in Wilmot, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Rials Mason and daughter, Brenda Mason Hagan.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Kenny and husband, William, of Dallas, Texas, and Linda Willis of West Monroe; two granddaughters, Sandie Wilson of Dallas and Angela Hill of Alexandria; three grandsons, Bill Kenny of Dallas, Mason Hagan and wife, Brandi, of Dodson and David Hagan and wife, Jennifer, of Aiken, S.C.; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wilson of Dallas; and two sisters, Bennie Barnes of Donaldson and Laveta Garner of Monroe.
