ULM intramural flag football team advances to national championship tourney The University of Louisiana at Monroe intramural flag football team, considered one of the top teams in America, will travel to New Orleans Dec. 28-31 to compete in the 2008 Slingbox American Collegiate Intramural Sports Football National Championships.
More than 1,500 students from over 100 colleges and universities from around the country are expected to participate in what is the largest collegiate intramural football program in the nation.
The ULM team, also known as WTF, earned their trip to the national championship competition by winning at the regional championship tournament held in November at the University of West Florida. The team includes Eric Edwards Jr., Nicole Schaferkatten, Jeremiah Burton, Ashley Register, April O'Neal, Kalynn Oswalt, Shawn Baham, Jeremy Robinson, Jordan Payne, Kelsie King and Tanisha Everett.
The national championships are the culmination of a program that began with 200 schools hosting on-campus Slingbox ACIS Football leagues throughout the fall semester. Ultimately, over 250,000 ACIS Football participants competed in more than 100,000 games.
Fox College Sports will air a 30-minute television highlight show featuring action from the tournament and personal video diaries with some of the team's road trip and highlights of the group's experiences in New Orleans. |
