WM author releases new book Rockford Guild Press has announced the release of "Touchstones and Threads of Change," by West Monroe native Dr. Dixon Hearne, winner of the 2008 Guild Press Award for best new book.
"Touchstones and Threads of Change" is a collection of short stories and poetry, many of which originally appeared in literary magazines and have won awards.
"Dixon Hearne knows the South, its people, their voices, their culture and their tribulations. And therein lies his story-telling gift — the exceptional ability to transform local, sometimes seemingly petty, squabbles into observations on the universal human condition and the invariable opportunities for redemption," said Ernest Avery, editor of Reflections Literary Journal.
While he presently teaches and writes in southern California, much of his work is drawn from the images in his daily life growing up in West Monroe.
Hearne is the author of four short story collections, including "Plantatia: Hightone and Lowdown Stories of the South." For more information the author, visit his Web site at www.dixonhearne.com. |
