Members of the ULM Opera Studio have been invited to Washington D.C. Friday, Jan. 9, to present the premiere of a children's opera about the environment titled "The Greenest Story Ever Told."

The presentation in the nation's capital will be made at the national convention of the National Opera Association.

ULM graduate students Julian Jones of West Monroe and Bianca Jackson of Natchez, Miss., will perform the new opera, along with undergraduate students Johnny Nichols of Monroe, Elizabeth Boston of Shreveport, and Doug Bennett of Slidell.

The script and music has been written by Head of the Music Division and Opera Director Dr. Mark Ross Clark, who serves on the board of the National Opera Association.

Clark has presented workshops and has participated in round table discussions in three past national NOA conventions, and has won a national directing production award.

The convention will also host a vocal competition and will present an achievement award to renowned singer Marilyn Horne.
