The National Weather Service in Shreveport issued the following weather advisory Monday morning:

"Elevated Moisture has Begun to Spread Atop a very Cold, Arctic Air Mass in Place Across the Four State Region. Areas of very Light Rain, Mixed with Sleet at Times, has Been reported this Morning across Central and Southeast Texas. this area of very Light Precipitation is Expected to Affect Portions of Northeast Texas And North Louisiana, Generally Along and South of the Interstate 20 Corridor today. However, Surface Temperatures are Expected to Warm Above Freezing today, Thus No Ice Accumulations are Expected today.

"By tonight, a Strong Southerly Flow Just Above the Surface Will Result in a Rapid Northward Transport of Low Level Moisture from The Gulf of Mexico. Scattered Areas of Light Freezing Rain, Mixed With Sleet at Times, will be Possible this Evening As Temperatures Fall to near or Slightly Below Freezing. However, Given the Warmer Gulf Air Slowly Spreading Northward, Surface Temperatures will Slowly Rise Overnight, Although the Freezing Line May Linger Along or Just North of the Interstate 20 Corridor of East Texas and North Louisiana Through Tuesday Morning. Thus, Light Ice Accumulations "on Elevated Objects, Such As Bridges and Overpasses, Trees And Power Lines, will be Possible tonight over Areas.

"The Threat for Light Freezing Rain will Linger Through Tuesday Morning Along and North of the Interstate 30 Corridor of Extreme Northeast Texas, Southwest Arkansas, and Southeast Oklahoma Before Temperatures are Able to Warm Above Freezing by Midday Thus Changing the Wintry Precipitation Back over to Liquid. total Ice Accumulations are Expected to Remain Below One Quarter of An
Inch Through Tuesday Morning, with the Greatest Accumulations Affecting Areas Along the Red River Bordering Texas and Oklahoma As Well As Adjacent Southwest Arkansas.

"Area Residents and Motorists Traveling tonight and Tuesday Morning Should Monitor the Latest Forecasts, Statements, and Potential Winter Weather Advisories Issued by the National Weather Service Office in Shreveport."
