Norein Rayner Allen
Mrs. Norein Rayner Allen, 83, of West Monroe, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Revs. George Bonner and Rick McPhearson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Dianne Parker and Janet Allen; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Allen; daughters, Katherine Tumlison and husband, Buck, Shirley Allen and Renee Allen; son-in-law, Ralph Parker; three granddaughters, Pamela Martin, Amanda Pennington and Nikki Smith; grandson, Joey Tumlison; three great-grandchildren, Ansley Pennington, Aiden Pennington and Brynn Pennington; brothers, Ralph Rayner and Darryl Rayner; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gene Rogers, Keith McKaskle, Scott McKaskle, Tommy Gist, Rich Jacobs and Clint Cummings. Honorary pallbearer was Jerry Parker.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the American Cancer Society.

Marjorie R. Becton
Mrs. Marjorie R. Becton, 92, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at the Landmark Nursing Center.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Community Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Becton Jr.; son, Alfred Dee Becton; her parents; many brothers and sisters; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, John Becton and wife, Angie; daughter, Janice Hough; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.

Josephine Comrato
Ms. Josephine Comrato, 102, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Rev. Sebastian Kallarackal officiating. Interment was in St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Survivors include sisters, Annie C. Graham, Johanna Comrato, Marie "Bo" Comrato and Virginia Comrato; nieces, Mary Margaret Dorris, Charlene Bruno and Margaret Anzalone; great nieces, Gayle Boyd, Kathy Stewart, Lisa Wassack, Donna Ferlicca and Laura Anzalone; great nephew, Calvin "Chip" Dorris (her Godchild), and Mike and Joey Bruno; numerous great-great nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mark Norris, Paul Burke, Chris Ferlicca, Ron Boyd, Will Tatum, David Wassack and Frank Anzalone. Honorary pallbearers were Calvin "Chip" Dorris and Pete Embanato.

Clinton Steven Droesser
Mr. Clinton "Clint" Steven Droesser, 27, of Monroe, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, after an automobile accident.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Jimmy C. Wesson officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Darlene and Rev. Jimmy C. Wesson of Maylane, Ala.; father, Steven Droesser; grandmother, Florence Droesser; brother, Jacob Droesser, all of Monroe; stepsister, Stephanie Lemieux of Oki­nawa, Japan; stepbrother, Jeff Wesson of Shreveport; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers were James Brown, Jacob Droesser, Dustin Odaware, Mark Droesser, Ritchie Radloff and Chris Ivanon.

James L. Frith
Mr. James L. Frith, 65, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, in Alexandria.
His funeral was Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Fellowship Baptist Church Columbia. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Frith, and second wife, Winnie R. Frith; parents, John and Fannie Mae Frith; son, James E. Frith; brothers, Sherman, Gene and William Frith; and a sister, Mary Brantley.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Frith; daughters, Deborah Chambola and husband, Joey, Paula Zagone and husband, John; sons, Mike Davis and wife, Sandra, Steve Frith and wife, Angela, Kenny Coates and wife, Kathey, Todd Coates and wife, Tonya; grandsons, Adam and Daniel Chambola, Joseph Davis and Bo and Kane Frith, Adrien, Kaeden, Kyle and Cody Coates; granddaughters, Rachel and Jessica Chambola, Amber Davis, Lainie Richey and Rebekah Coates; great-grandson, Garrett Richey; brothers, John Frith, H.L. Frith, Glenn Frith, Kenneth Frith and Charles Frith; sisters; Blanche Hicks and Ruby Frith.

Carolyn Sue Frost
Mrs. Carolyn Sue Frost, 58, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Bethel Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Braxton Humphries officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Survivors include her husband, John Frost Sr.; daughter, Kathy Frost Harris and husband, Shane; son, John David Frost Jr. and wife, Margaret, and Mark Allen Frost; grandson, Lane Harris; two brothers, Darrel Naron and wife, Sue, and Johnny Ray Naron and wife, Brenda Sue; uncle, Jimmy Brown and wife, Lois; and aunt, Donna Brown.

Irene Frost
Graveside services for Mrs. Irene "Polly" Frost were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun. Arrangements were by Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. She passed away at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in a restful sleep, no longer in pain, happy and whole.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Frost; son-in-law, Gene Blazier; four sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia Blazier; grandchildren, Ashley Blazier, Scarlet Blazier and Jason Blazier; six great-grandchildren, Jamison, Lindsey, Tiffany, Jesse, Morgan and Daniel; one great-great grandchild, Riley; two brothers; and four sisters.

Eva Worthey Lea
Mrs. Eva Worthey Lea, 85, of West Monroe, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, surrounded by her family.
Her funeral was at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Benton Moore officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lea. Eva was his shadow for 69 years. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Monroe Martin and Ola Worthey; and one brother, Clarence E. Worthey.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Sue Griggs and N. Ann Antley and husband, Billy; son, William M. "Pete" Lea; four grandchildren, Jerry Griggs, Clint Griggs, Acacia Antley, and Brett Antley; and eleven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jerry Griggs, Clint Griggs, Dickie Worthey, Jim Worthey, Rick Worthey, and Brett Antley.

Mattie Lou Oliver Lester
Mrs. Mattie Lou Oliver Lester, 98, of West Monroe, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at First Baptist Church of West Monroe with Dr. David Uth, Dr. Dennis Swanberg, Dr. John Avant and Pastor Mark Fenn officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, AJ Lester; parents, Jim and Molly Oliver; daughter, Gerry Vineyard; sister, Lela Beall; brothers, Enis Oliver and Billy Oliver; and half sister, Curtis Mike.
Survivors include daughter, Louise Miller and husband, Hugh; six grandchildren, Bill Norris and wife, Polly, Jim Norris and wife, Charrissa, Lisa Thibodeaux and husband, Joey, William Vineyard and wife, Roxanne, Lori Garner and Elizabeth Vineyard; 13 great-grandchildren, Erin Norris, Will Norris, Maggie Davis, Clay Norris, Jake Norris, Madi Norris, Brett Norris, Ashley Thibodeaux, Ryan Thibodeaux, Alex Vineyard, Charlie Garner, Samantha Garner and Autleigh Vineyard; and nieces, Linda Shamburger and Jeanette Tubbs; and many "adopted" children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jim Norris, William Vineyard, Bill Norris, Will Norris, Joey Thibodeaux, Ryan Thibodeaux, Charlie Garner, Alex Vineyard and Dr. Andrew Pollard. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Bill Ferguson, Randolph Cage, Charles Jackson, Ronnie Green, Russell Hart, Johnnie Wilbanks, Dr. Steve Carter, Craig Pate, Dick Howard, West Monroe Mayor Dave Norris, Richard Bradley, Jimmy Cloessner, Joe Thomas and Richard Gates.
Memorials in Mattie Lou Oliver Lester's honor may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and the Missions Program at First Baptist Church of West Monroe.

J.W. Martin
Mr. J.W. "Dub" Martin, 79, of West Monroe, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Joe Solomon and Rev. Weldon Bares officiating. Interment was in Monroe Memorial Park in Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine McAllister Martin; and granddaughters, Brandi and Candi Gates.
Survivors include his daughter, Janice Martin Gates and husband, Butch; step-daughter Dottie Brown; grandson, Tadd Gates and wife, Amber; granddaughter, Amber Kirkland and husband, Jeff; step-grandson Jason Brown and wife, Ava, step-grandson, Justin Brown, step-granddaughter, Tiffany Meyers and John; two great-grandchildren, Alli Gates and Kaitlyn Kirkland; step-great granddaughter Sara Brown; sisters, Frances Lang, Ruby Russell and husband Clete, Jeannie Martin.
Pallbearers were Don Brown, Norman Bennett, Larry Cobb, Bill Stewart, Charles Hilbure and Ron Rollen.

Clotile Brogdon Myers
Mrs. Clotile Brogdon Myers 86, of West Monroe, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, in Farmerville.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Gordon Winslow officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Myers, and her daughter, Velma Ruth Brown.
Survivors include her son Donald and wife, Lou Myers; two daughters, Connie and husband, Rev. Gordon Winslow, and Vickie and husband, Donnie Vocker.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.

William S. Nield
Mr. William S. Nield, 90, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2008.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at First Christian Church in Monroe with Rev. Randy Cook officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.M. and Pauline Nield; his wife, Manelle Nield; brother, George Nield; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Nield and Tommie Hankins.
Survivors include his sister, Mayrene Page; brother-in-law, Charlie Hankins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Rex Mann, John Foster, Sidney Hart, Slagle McGuffee, Billy Flemming and Jim Padgett. Honorary pallbearers were Don Noblet and Lloyd Glawe.

Thelma Wisenor Patten
Mrs. Thelma Wisenor Patten, 77, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lynn Wisenor and her second husband, Arley Patten; four brothers; three sisters; and her parents.
Survivors include her three sons, Larry Wisenor and wife, Debbie of Texas, Randy Wisenor and wife, Debbie, of West Monroe, and Mark Wisenor and wife, Dana, of Arkansas; stepson, Robert Patten and wife, Donna, of Monroe; grandchildren, Jared, Cole and Erin Wisenor of West Monroe, Jessica and Zackery Wisenor of Arkansas, Tracy and Casey Wisenor of Texas; two great-grandchildren, Ruby and Robin Falke; special niece and caregiver, Dot McCurry; sister-in-law, Bessie Garris of Colorado; special nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mary Ann Butler.
Pallbearers were Les Holley, Scotty Barnes, Bill Poindexter, Blackie Smith, Mark Corbin and Gary Doolittle. Honorary pallbearers were Boots Pilcher and Charles Duncan.

Matilda V. Robertson
Mrs. Matilda V. Robertson, 87, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Robertson; and sister, Sue Ethridge.
Survivors include her sons, Dale Robertson and Anthony Robertson; daughters, Darlene Robertson and Beverly Robertson; sister, Frances Deitrich; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James Roubion
James Roubion, 56, of Bernice, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at his mother's residence in Downsville. He was preceded in death by his father, James "Bubby" Roubion.
Survivors include his mother, Ethel Roubion; sisters, Susie Coleman and husband, Paul, and Vicky Reeves and husband, Bruce; brothers, Aaron Roubion and Bryan Roubion; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Boyce and Debbie McIntosh.

Dorothy McClain Shelby
Mrs. Dorothy McClain Shelby, 88, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in Denham Springs.
Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe with her grandson Robert Shelby and Rev. Michi Head officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Vernon Alvis Shelby and by her son, Robert Earl Shelby Sr.
Survivors include her grandson, Robert Shelby Jr. and wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Cade, Ian, Tate, Cai, Abram, Emma and Sarah; daughter-in-law, Mary "Peggy" Shelby; nephews, Patrick Riggin and wife, Clara, and Mike Riggin.
Honorary pallbearers were Patrick Riggin, Josh Riggin, Tracy Riggin, Steve Nipper, Larry Head, Eric Riggin, Buddy Griggs, Ray Hebert and Bill Lofton.
Memorials may be made to the McGuire United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Choir Fund.

Ethel Harper Sherman
Mrs. Ethel Harper Sherman, 81, of West Monroe, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Leonard Garlington officiating. Interment was in Monroe Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irma Harper; brother, J.W. Harper; and sister, Ruth Dunahoo.
Survivors include her children, JoAnn Cain, Betty K. Ballew and husband, Lawrence, David Sherman and wife, Karel, Sandra Corley and husband, Bruce, Tim Sherman and wife, Gigi, and Sherry Prestage and husband, Mike; father and step-father of her children, David A. Sherman; sisters, Shannon Garrett and Betty Garlington;12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Justin Sherman, Larry Ballew Jr., Barry F. Ballew, Gary Cain Jr., Jonathan Sherman and Tommy Trainer.
