John Robert Cole
Dr. John Robert "Jack" Cole, 78, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2008.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Rodd Taylor officiating. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Opal Cole of Bastrop.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ann Buatt Cole; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Nancy Cole of Monroe and their children, John, Mitchell and Caroline; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Andy Welch of Dallas, Texas, and their children, Thomas and Sarah Kate; sister, Mary Lou Turpin of Bastrop; and nieces, Kim Turpin Davis and Cherri Turpin Johnson.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Johnson, Robert Carter, Dr. Mike Nolan, Boots Gladney, Clay Johnson and Harvey Gregg. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Pot Luck Hunting Club.

Funeral services for Mrs. Iris Priou Coyle, 83, of Richmond, Va., were at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Interment was at St. Paschal's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was immediately before the service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Coyle Sr.; sisters, Olive "Ollie" Kendrick, Mildred "Mimi" Roy, and Ruth "Sis" Coates; and brothers, Adam "Son" Priou and Lucian "Tut" Henry Priou Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Coyle and husband, John; son, James H. Coyle Jr. and wife, Mary, Louise; grandchildren, Jennifer Howerton and husband, Michael, and Christopher Coyle; great-grandchildren, John Michael Howerton and Matthew Howerton; nieces, Linda Wilson and husband, Peyton, and Lynn Shows and husband, Lonnie; nephew, Gary Roy and wife, Shirley; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers were Gary Roy, Peyton Wilson, Lonnie Shows, Greg Richards, Troy Shows and Brad Shows.

Jessie Mae Morgan Ellington
Mrs. Jessie Mae Morgan Ellington, 88, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Joseph Robert Inzina and Rev. Sebastian Kallarackel officiating. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday evening at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Warren Morgan and Gertrude Hopson Morgan; and four brothers, Earl, James, Charles and Patrick.
Jessie fell in love and married Robert W. Ellington Jr, her companion and husband for the past 65 years. To them were born six children, Margaret Beth (preceded in death), Susan Ellington of Benton, Katherine Ellington Spencer and husband, Thomas, Patrick Ellington, Robert Ellington III, all of Monroe, and Dr. Julie Ellington Turner of Peachtree City, Ga. Her memory is carried forward with nine grandchildren, Jack Ostteen, Morgan Cole, Jake Spencer, Jess Spencer, Jessie Shadowens, Christine Turner, Craig Turner, Lauren Turner and Nicole Turner; seven great-grandchildren, Delaney Webb, Reagan Cole, Curry Spencer, Cam Spencer, Cason Spencer, Jeffrey Turner and Myles Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jack Ostteen, Jake Specer, Jess Spencer, Craig Turner, Sonny Foreman, and Rob Cole.

Mrs. Virginia Black Frost, 83, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Larry Stafford officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Sheridan Black; and two brothers, Richard and Alfred.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Frost; stepson, Joe and Belinda Frost; nieces, Mollie McCanless of Pueblo, Colo., and Ermine Chandler of New Orleans; nephews, Donald Chandler of Alexandria, and Eddie Bailey of Calhoun; several cousins; and many friends, Margaret Westbrook, and Mr. and Mrs. Walker Norman of Lincolnton, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Tempie Hegwood; sister, Gladys Hegwood Schneider; and brother, J.R. Hegwood.
Survivors include the love of his life of over 50 years, his wife, Yvonne Hegwood; son, Jim Hegwood Jr. and wife, Renee Alexander; daughters, Denise McMullen and husband, Artie, and Elizabeth Benefield and husband, Raymond; sister, Judy Hegwood Boyte and husband, Bob; grandchildren, Amanda and Whit McMullen, Jimbo III and wife, Danielle, Hegwood, Charlie and Courtney Hegwood, and Raymond Jr. and David Benefield; several nieces and nephews; and his cat, Rose.

Elijah Fisher Johnson, age 13 months, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Pastor Dale Mercer officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun. Visitation was Thursday evening.
Survivors include his mother, Leslie Johnson and her fiance, Brandon Evans; Nana and Papa, Sandra Myers and Casey Myers; grandfather, Randy Johnson; aunt, Jamie Johnson; uncle and aunt, Josh and Miranda Johnson; great-grandparents, Mike and Betty Hernandez; maternal great-grandparents, Bobby and Syble Sanders; cousins, Trinity, Katy, Rhylee, Kyliegh and Curstan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Hazel H. McGraw, 84, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, in West Monroe.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, D.E. "Hungry" McGraw.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Smith; parents, Vince and Maggie Ray Tidwell; and five sisters, Daisy Neal, Dollie Smith, Mary Pilgreen, Mildred Walker and Susie Lawrence.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Iva (Cookie) Collie; a son, David Lloyd Smith and wife, Twyla; brother, I.H. Tidwell and wife, Stephanie, all of West Monroe; five granddaughters, Deidre Avant and husband, David, Daphne Turlington and husband, Jet, Daisy Dunn and husband, Michael, Claire Lynch and husband, Bryan, and Sarah Smith; one grandson, Adam Smith and wife, Janis; 12 great-grandchildren, Rusti, Kari Beth and Maggie Avant, Kayleigh Turlington, Ava and Catherine Dunn, Celeste Dobbs, Gretchen and Samuel Lynch, Ella Smith, and Emma and Jacob Smith; and many other relatives and friends.
