Mrs. Dewanna Gail Beard, 47, of West Monroe, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in West Monroe with Rev. Rick McPhearson officiating. Visitation was Saturday evening at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Earline Beard and her grandparents, Jack and Ida Beard and Joseph and Margarete Bayles.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael Wayne Dulaney and Robert Paul Miller and wife, Ashley; two grandsons, Kaiden William Brown and Alexzander David Miller; father, Wayne Beard; sister, Lynn Cowan and fiancé, Todd Allen; brother, Mark Beard; special friend of 14 years, Randy Mercer; uncles, Gene Bayles and wife, Dottie, and Louis Bayles and wife, Barbara; a niece; and three nephews.
Pallbearers were Michael Dulaney, Robert Miller, Todd Allen, Jason Cowan, Cody Cowan, Justin Beard, Randy Mercer, Joshua Bourdlen and Ricky Vallerette.

Funeral services for Mr. William J. "Bill" Blackstock, 84, of West Monroe, were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Jon Tellifero officiating. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening.
Survivors include his wife, Chris Blackstock; daughters, Kay Storm and Jan Harville and husband, Richard; grandsons, Ben Elmore and Daniel Elmore; granddaughters, Jordan Harville, Mallory Harville and Payton Harville; great-granddaughter, Cailyn Elmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phylonia Yoma Lawrence Cannon, 89, of West Monroe, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Dub Massey officiating. Interment was at Monroe Memorial Park in Monroe. Visitation was Friday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Crissler J. Cannon; daughter, Gloria Ezell; son-in-law, Joel Ezell; great-great grandson, J.R. Ezell; grandson-in-law, Chris Winters; two brothers; and one sister.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, Buddy Cannon and wife, Faye, Joe Cannon and wife, Virginia; one daughter, Phyllis Cannon Kerrigan and husband, Mike; sister, Doris "Tootsie" Trusty; brother, Lloyd Lawrence; 10 grandchildren, Joy Ezell Eley and husband, Billy, Jo-Jo Ezell and wife, Wanda, Joey Cannon, Molly Cannon Winters, Steve Cannon, Danny Cannon and wife, Amanda, Dawn Cannon, Summer Kerrigan Girod and husband, Chad, Lance Kerrigan and wife, Brittney; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita Chapman
Mrs. Juanita "Tibb" Chapman, 91, of Shreveport and formerly of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in Texarkana, Texas.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Bruce Rux officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service a the mausoleum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. "Dubb" Chapman; two sisters, Clio Bright and Dorothy Hoskins; and four brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Jones and husband, Douglas, of Texarkana, Texas; one niece, Beverly Middleton of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Betty Jane Hill
Betty Jane Hill passed away suddenly but peacefully in her sleep Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at the age of 68.
A celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at College Place Baptist Church in Monroe. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was Sunday evening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvie and Froney Bird, a brother and a sister.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, "Sonny" Hill; her daughters, Cherrie Mattison, Terrie Nugent and her husband, Eddie, Charlotte Hill Jackson and her husband, Wade; those most precious to her, her grandchildren, Megan Roshto, Emorie and Averie Nugent, Landon Jackson, and Matthew Mattison; brother, Blackston Bird of Gatesville, Texas; three sisters, Ann McCloskey, Billie JoAnn Amidon and her husband, Bud, of Bertram, Texas, and Adarene Wilson and her husband, Joe, of Killeen, Texas; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Eddie Nugent, Scottie Nugent, Wade Jackson, David Hill, Greg Hill, Bert Chop, Joey Chop and Trey Fluitt. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Hill and Camron Smith.

Mr. Paul Ray Howard, 43, of West Monroe passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Sidney (PaPa Dick) Hodge Sr.; aunt, Sandra Kay Hodge Anderson; father, Bob Aubrey Howard; and stepfather, Ray Murray.
Survivors include his mother, Elaine Hodge Murray; daughter, Megan Rochelle Howard; grandmother, Nettie Hodge; two special aunts, Mancy Howard and husband, Jim, and Nancy Fury and husband, Frank; uncle, Sidney (Dickie) Hodge Jr. and wife, Cheryl; aunts, Brenda Hodge and Barbara Dawson; mother of his daughter and best friend, Glenda Howard Holloway; numerous cousins; a host of friends; and his beloved cat and buddy, Oscar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Katie Campbell Fox; husband, Bob Phillips; son, Charles; and brother, Hal Jr.
Survivors include her son, Robert and wife, Cathy; beloved grandson, Rob; sisters, Joan Folwell of Athens, Ga., and Janet McLaurin of Brandon, Miss.; and many nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Betty McHugh Roach, 79, of Orange, Texas, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at her West Monroe residence, where she moved to be close to her children during her illness.
