Cedar Crest Baptist hosts free Christmas drama The free "walk-through" Christmas drama, "Journey to Bethlehem" will be featured Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6-7 inside Pecanland Mall.
The 27th annual event is presented by Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe.
The drama will be open from 2-5 p.m. each day. It takes about 20 minutes to walk through it. The drama will be showcased near Belk's in the Mall Hall and The Empty Stage Store.
Admission is free, and there is nothing for sale.
Participants will experience the sights, sounds and smells of the first Christmas more than 2,000 years ago as more than 100 costumed actors recreate this event.
A first century Bethlehem marketplace scene has been recreated and it will be set in time the morning after the birth of Jesus Christ.
Visitors may come and walk through Bethlehem and interact with the shopkeepers, such as the moneychanger, census takers, tanners, carpenters, copper merchants, tailors and bread-makers
Live animals will also be included in the drama. Donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, doves and geese will be included.
Participants also will find fresh bread, fresh fish, fruits and honey.
