Emma Barfoot, 92, of West Monroe, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Ray Jones officiating. Interment was at Walnut Grove Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Saturday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Barfoot; sister, Minnie Browder; two brothers, Odie Cotton and Ervin Cotton; and a son-in-law, James Crawford.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Crawford; two sons, Harry Barfoot and wife, Frances, and Charles Barfoot and wife, Cathey; sister, Tempie Thornhill; six grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn Curry Crawford
Carolyn Curry Crawford, "Maw Carolyn," 66, of West Monroe, lost her four-year battle with cancer on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Bro. Milton Pray officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun. Visitation was Saturday evening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dock C. Curry and Vernice McDaniel (Bill) Curry and her sister, Irene Curry Campbell.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Joe Homer Crawford of West Monroe; two children, Joey Crawford and wife, Hope, and Doug Crawford, all of West Monroe; five grandchildren, Josh Crawford, Dallas Singleton, Chris Crawford, Carter Crawford and Seth Crawford; sister, Ginger Gulett and husband, Jim, of West Monroe; and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and close friends.
Pallbearers were Robert Kelly Jr., Tommy Kelly, Justin Malone, Toby Burnett, Bobby Fletcher, Jay Hicks and Buddy Jordan.

John Wesley Dye
John Wesley Dye, 69, of West Monroe, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, after a lengthy battle with cancer and related illnesses.
Visitation for family and friends was held from 1-2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Center Point Baptist Church in West Monroe. The service was conducted by Brother William Edwards and Rev. Danny McIlveene.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett G. Dye; his mother, Mable Marie Reames Dye Denton; and his stepfather, Ray Denton.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl who was his best friend, caregiver, and helpmate; his sons, John Lee, Robbie and wife Robyn, and Donnie; his beloved pets, Sport and Taz; his brother, Eddie Ray Dye and wife, Glenda; sister, Glenda Smith and husband, Gary; sister, Sheila Spangler and husband, Loyd; granddaughter, Destiny Black; grandson, Jacob Dye; daughter, Kim Gresham and husband, Roy; granddaughters, Sunni and Jordan; daughters, Kathryn and Michelle Hollis; granddaughter, Brittany Glasscock; and grandson, Brayden Wesley Hollis.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe Walthall, Jarvin Albritton, Kevin Albritton, Dave Kent, James Traylor, Ray Traylor and Jimmy Chandler.

Mr. GA Evans, 87, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Andy Myrick officiating. Burial was in Loch Arbor Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday evening.

Mrs. Linda Sue Poole Haye, 65, of Farmerville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in her residence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cary Surveal Poole and Elizabeth Octavia Whitehead; and one sister, Odeatrice "Dee" Powell.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Nickey Haye; two sons, Chris Haye and wife, Stephanie, and Greg Haye and wife, Lisa; one daughter, Nicole Satterwhite and husband, Chris; seven grandchildren, Colin Haye, Alex, Damian and Marisa Haye, Christopher, Cory and Alyssa Satterwhite; two brothers, Wayne Poole and wife, Donna, and Dean Poole and wife, Mary Ann; three sisters, Elaine Poole and husband, Clifford, Reba Randall and husband, Thad, and Ruby Dannehl and husband, Ricky; brother-in-law, Maurice Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Elizabeth Henry Hemphill, 102, of Monroe, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at St. Francis North Hospital in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Allison Moody officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation was immediately before the service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George I. Hemphill; her brother, Lewis Henry; as well as, her "special" daughter, Elizabeth Peters.
Survivors include her younger sister, Carolyn Henry Williamson of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Walter Ben Williamson of San Antonio; a special cousin, Bill Peters and his wife, Cherie, and Bill's children, Becky, Paul and Patti; nieces, Betty Hemphill Comegys of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Anne Hemphill Durham of Washougal, Wash.

Mrs. Alma Coyle McLaury, 81, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Roger Messer; and grandson, Timothy Cappo.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Norman McLaury; three daughters, Karen Scott, Ann Cappo and husband, Ron, and Lucy Jones and husband, Roger; three sons, Norman McLaury Jr. and wife, Susan, David McLaury and wife, Tina, and Danny McLaury and wife, Terri; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Valenzuella.

Ernest M. Strauss died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at his home in Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Strauss of Monroe and his devoted wife of 59 years, Janis Holloway.
Survivors include his daughter, Gail and her husband, Leonard Bunch; granddaughters, Janis Barraza and her husband, Mike, and their four children, Michael, Julie, Aimee and Daniel of Monroe; daughter, Sally and her husband, David Mouton, and their three children, Mary, David, and Michael of Houston, Texas; and daughter, Holly and her husband, Joe Dencker, and their three children, Wesley, Sarah, and Emma of Denver, Colo.

Jack Thompson, 85, of Swartz, was called to heaven on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manie and Henry Thompson; seven siblings; and his beloved grandson, Scott.
He leaves behind a loving wife of 57 years, Loraine Wyatt Thompson, whom he married May 26, 1951; four sons, Steve Thompson and wife, Linda, Keith Thompson and fiancée, Joanie, Rusty Thompson and wife, Lynn, and David Thompson and special friend, Felecia; seven grandchildren, Crystal and husband, Steven Davis, Kayla and husband, Dr. Jacob Lee, Melissa, Clint, Jack, Jason and Jacob Thompson; five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Conner, Clara, Jackson and Abby Kate.
