Wossman shoots for playoff spot The Wossman Wildcats will fight for their playoff lives when they travel to Green Oaks on Friday night.
Wossman won four consecutive games to begin the year but has since lost five in-a-row, thanks to turnovers and inconsistencies on both offense and defense.
Last week, Wossman fell behind early when Rayville scored a first-quarter touchdown on a one-yard run by Ellis Hamp. Hamp finished with 137 yards on 19 carries.
Rayville exploited the Wossman defense for 528 yards of offense. The Wildcats will need to be more consistent in making stops as Green Oaks fields another athletic team full of speed.
But after a Green Oaks 55-20 loss last week to the Richwood Rams, this could be the week the Wossman rushing attack gets back on track. Wossman will also look to quarterback Bam Charleston. Returning from a knee injury three weeks ago, Charleston threw a touchdown pass to DeMorris Hamburg in the 28-7 loss to Rayville last week.
Wossman has struggled in the defensive backfield and that is a key in the minds of the Wildcats this week. Coaches believe the difference will be keeping pace with the opponent's intensity for four quarters. How well will the Wossman defense respond to the pressure? It could make all the difference for these Wildcats.
Kickoff at Green Oaks is scheduled for 7 p.m. |
