Aviation museum events to honor veterans
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Chennault Aviation and Military Museum of Louisiana will hold its biggest celebration of the year on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 701 Kansas Lane in Monroe.

From 9 a.m.-3 p.m. displays will include World War II re-enactors with equipment; a display from the Civil Air Patrol; and a remote airplane display.

A memorial program will be held from 11 a.m.-noon. Speakers will include Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo and SFC Retired Michael J. McNaughton from the Department of Veterans Affiars. McNaughton lost a leg and two fingers on his hand when he stepped on a land mine in Bagram, Afganistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.

The National Guard honor guard will perform a special ceremony and the West Monroe High School band will play special music honoring the "greatest generation."

A fish fry will be held from noon-1 p.m. with a minimal charge for the public. The meal is free for veterans.
