Wossman welcomes Rayville
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Wossman Wildcats look to get back on track with a home district tilt against the Rayville Hornets Friday night.

Wossman won four consecutive games to begin the year but has since lost four in-a-row thanks to turnovers and inconsistencies on both offense and defense.

Wilbert Williams continues to be a bright spot for the Wossman offense and ran in a score for the Wildcats last week in the losing effort.

Bam Charleston, returning from a knee injury two weeks ago, has been hit-and-miss for the Wildcats. An out-of-sync feeling to the Wildcats offense has seen the unit average just over 11 points per game during the current streak.

Rayville is led on offense by a strong arieal assault. Quarterback Phaquinton Lawson and wide-out Kenny Bell have set the tone for a Rayville squad looking for answers following a 46-14 loss to Richwood last week.

Lawson has also been a threat on the ground with six rushing touchdowns. The Wossman defense will see another athletic quarterback to contain of Friday night.

"We must contain our gaps," Wossman head coach Vince Landrum said. "We know how athletic Rayville is at the skill positions."

Bell, an LSU commitment, leads a receiving corps that can run a secondary all over the field. Knowing where Bell is will also be a key for the Wossman defensive unit.

Kickoff at Wildcat Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
