Richwood prepares for Green Oaks
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Richwood Rams (5-3, 3-0 district 1-3A) are still on a quest to wrap up another district championship and win over Green Oaks (3-5) on Friday would be exactly what the Rams need.

"We must continue to play as a team," Richwood coach Warren Trimble said. "If we continue to improve, I like our team and the chances."

Richwood dominated favored Rayville last week in a performance full of red-clad heroes. Quarterback Greg James ran for four touchdowns even though a two-quarterback system now gives some snaps to Anthony Abrams.

Richard Wilson has beaten the same defenses trying to double-team him as of late. Wilson recorded 99 receiving yards Friday against Rayville.

Richwood will continue to work to improve the balance in the offense and stay consistent, both of which kept them from victory in their first three contests.

Green Oaks is on a high after dispatching Madison last week, 36-0. Green Oaks has steadily improved a defense that yielded 49 points to Rayville just a couple of weeks ago.

Green Oaks has speed all over the field, but may not possess the same disciple on offense as Rayville. Still, coaches at Richwood want to guard against a letdown after such an emotional win over a big rival just one week ago.

Coming off their best performance of the season, Richwood is confident the defense can keep up the intensity level it needs to carry the school to another district trophy.
