OCS hosts rival Cedar Creek

The Ouachita Christian School Eagles (6-1, 2-0 district 2-1A) will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Cedar Creek Cougars (3-5, 2-1) Friday night at 7 p.m.

OCS is again ranked second in the latest sportswriter's poll in Class 1-A. OCS quarterback Jacob Davis continues to fuel an offense that is producing big numbers week after week.

Running back Glen Marshall and Matt Kennedy have also found the endzone on a weekly basis for the Eagles. OCS is one of the best offenses in the state with 41.9 points per game under their belts so far.

Kennedy recorded two touchdowns in the 41-7 win over Grambling Lab last week. OCS has balanced the offense in a way that makes defenses guess all night long.

"We have been real pleased with the balance on offense," OCS head coach Steven Fitzhugh said. "We have a good team effort going that is working out good for us."

Cedar Creek started slowly by dropping five of their first six games. The Cougars have since reeled off back-to-back victories in district play to get the team back on track.

"They are a good team," Fitzhugh said. "They started slowly but we will not overlook anybody. That is one thing I know about this team we have. These guys will be ready for anybody we play."

Rivals from the get-go, OCS and Cedar Creek have made for a great series over the years, and the district champion usually comes out of this match-up.

OCS can take a big step forward in a home playoff game to start the coming playoffs with a rivalry game victory Friday night.
