Rushing Tomlinson is owner and publisher of a Web site called "All Things Southern" and the host of a daily radio show and weekly TV segment by the same name. She has written several books. Donations will be accepted to recoup the cost of the event.

Cypress Street Church of God, 1401 Cypress St., West Monroe.
Cypress Street Church of God will host the seventh annual night of Gospel Music Nostalgia at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the church.
Featured will be many singers remembered from the Booster Singing Convention, which was held for more than 50 years in the area. Participants will include the Jeffress Family Singers; Disciples, featuring Tom Rainer and Johnny Goodwin; Ellen Kennedy Marsh; Pauline Green Thompson; the Glory Road Quartet, featuring Rodney Cannon; and several quartets and trios from Cypress Street Church of God.
The three-hour event will feature several styles of gospel music. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Sunday, Nov. 2 — 6:30 p.m.- First in a course series on "Unlocking the Symbols in Revelation," taught by Rev. Alfred L. Mac. The class will be taught every Sunday at 6:30 p.m. until the completion of Revelation. A certificate of attendance will be given to those who complete the course.

St. Matthew Catholic Church, 121 Jackson St., Monroe.
Saturday, Nov. 1 — 7 a.m.-All Saints Day mass. 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.-Feast of All Souls Day with a vigil mass at 4 p.m. There will not be an All Soul's Day mass at the mausoleum.
Schedule for blessing of the graves includes: 10 a.m.-Fr. Zacharias Prakuzhy at Providence Memorial; 11:30 a.m.-Fr. Richard Norsworthy at St. Joseph; 1 p.m. Fr. Joseph Puthuppally at Riverside; 2 p.m.-Prakuzhy at Forest Memorial and Puthuppally at St. Matthew; and 4 p.m.-Fr. Sebastian Kallarackal at Mulhearn Memorial.
Also, Fr. Frank Coens of St Paschal in West Monroe will preside over a special recognition of deceased loved ones during the 5:30 p.m. mass on Saturday and the 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. masses on Sunday.

Ray of Hope, 1935 Winnsboro Road, Monroe.
Ray of Hope recently opened a thrift store. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, with a closure for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday and Saturday hours are 9 a.m.-noon.
Thrift store proceeds benefit the many Ray of Hope projects, including a food bank on Mondays, disaster missions and much more.
